The reason why I wrote Volleyball's eye to be healed is because it never quite made sense to me that her form was cracked based off of her trauma with Pink Diamond's outbursts. A gem's form is supposed to be durable and the most damage a gem should suffer before death is their gemstone being cracked. Yet... nobody else except for Volleyball ever had damaged on their forms that weren't bruises.

And it might be hypocritical of me to say that, since Arkham Spinel has scars on her face instead of black lines, but I was just following the source material, which means go yell at Samuel instead of me. :>

Plus, I just wanted to give her a happy ending, since she deserves so much for being there to support White Diamond in the canon Arkham Edition. She's so loyal and supportive.

The Next Day:

Squaridot sits down in the chair in front of Moonstone once again, as the professor requested another meeting with her.

"Good evening, peridot." The professor greets, looking much better than what she did the other day as her bruises seemed to be subsiding - but still subtly present. "Thank you once again for attending my conference on short notice. Did you consider my offer on a partnership?"

"I have, and I suppose I shall indulge the concept of collaboration with you, since you merely sparked my interest by an infinitesimal numeral. You should feel privileged to have me sitting here in front of you to enlighten you of my enriching experience of brilliant vocabulary and intelligence." Squaridot boasts in one breath.

"Of course." Moonstone complies. "Could you, perhaps, enlighten me about your earlier years prior to your first encounter with Steven Universe?"

Squaridot rolled her eyes. "Oh, fine, if you insist. I was created much like the other peridots, doing mildly taxing jobs as a technician under the employ of Yellow Diamond. My commanding officer was an agate who demanded our assistance to fix things whenever she requested. It was a fine job, if you were stupid enough to think that the compensation was decent. The peridot cut was always smarter than the average quartz, yet we are always overlooked and unappreciated by the others - even the Diamonds. I learned after my fifteenth beating from my agate that I was just as replaceable as the next peridot, so I sought out to be different. And that was how I learned the importance of intelligence, as I erased myself from Homeworld's systems and manipulated the technology to my favor. You see, you can survive Homeworld's darkest eras if you're smart enough, and I finally got my revenge on my abusive agate. I made her play one of my puzzles, and as you'd expect, she was too stupid to figure out the answer to the square root of 121. It was eleven, of course. Homeworld should be grateful for me, I'm weeding out the stupid and useless. And if the citizens of Homeworld were smarter, they would find my puzzles merely amusing diversions. But not everyone is component enough to see that, because all Homeworld cares about is strength. Did you know that a bodyguard in the Palace gets thrice the amount of pay compared to the average technician?"

"Indeed. Did you also know that psychiatrists and therapists were paid only a quarter of what a single ruby guard gets paid? I learned that the hard way."

"Exactly!" Squaridot rises from her chair. "All of the intelligent gems aren't receiving any special treatment for being smarter. In fact, we're punished for not being simple-minded brutes who think that strength is the key to success."
