Gabriella POV:

"The longing from not knowing who I am or who my real father is keeps me up at nights who am I really".Gabriella Baldwin.

At 25 years old, about to be 26 in eight weeks, I still have never had a relationship. I don't know how to fully connect to anyone because I am missing something in my life: my real father. And I know, no matter what my mother says, Peter Winters isn't my father. He did all that a father would do. I went to the best schools, I had the opportunity to get the best possible education, and between him and my mother, I had a semi-normal childhood. But I had a sense that something was missing. And even though my mother stated I was just looking for trouble, I knew ever since I was twelve years old when I found some love letters that were written between her and who I believe is my real father. They were madly in love from what I read between the two. My father is from a rich society where your spouse was chosen for you. So even though he loved my mother, he didn't have a choice. He had to let her go. In the last letter he wrote to my mother, he told her how much he loved her and told her that maybe someday they would be able to be together. And the fact that my mother never married or dated anyone since then makes me think she's holding onto that promise. And that is such a sad and painful life.

As Gabriella sipped on her coffee and stared through her window, being on the top floor of the building was a plus. She loved the view. As a lawyer, she had just made partner at her law firm. I mean, being employed by Sterling Lawyers and Company, she had landed her dream job. But still, something was missing. She needed to find her real father and confront him as to why he abandoned her. She needed to close that chapter of her life. She just felt like her life would start once she had all the answers to her questions that could only come from him. She let out a deep sigh. How would she find him? All she knew was whatever little information she had gathered from her mom's old letters, and her uncle Pete would not give her any information, not that she had ever asked him. Maybe she should. She heard her office phone ringing. Well, back to reality, she supposed. "This is Gabriella," she answered. It was Mrs. Sterling. She wanted her to meet her within the hour at a local coffee shop. "Sure, I can meet you within the hour," she thanked her for calling and hung up the phone. She jumped around in excitement, but as she turned around, she saw her assistant staring at her. She got herself together. "Get me another cup of coffee, please."

She's been working at Sterling Lawyers for six months but hasn't gotten the chance to work on any big cases. And with Mrs. Sterling calling to meet at a nearby coffee shop, she was hoping this is the break she's been waiting for. As she rehearsed to herself how she would speak, she smiled. At least there is something good going on in her life after all.

As she finished signing a few paperwork that was on her desk and needed her signature, she got ready and left her office. She hailed a cab to take her to the local coffee shop. She got there early and sat and waited. "Anything to drink while you wait, madam?" the server asked. "Just some water, please," she replied.
