Thunderstorm of thoughts

A bright screen illuminating a face
In a dark room
Colourful fairy lights painting the ceilings
Dawn slowly peeking through the blinds

Spending hours and hours on an app
Reading a new found book online
Whilst the head is clouded with thoughts
That is looming over as time passes

Once the screen goes black
And they're left there with their thoughts
Lying still on the bed
Looking up at the ceiling

The thunders inside their mind
Getting louder
With nothing to occupy them
Other than unwanted thoughts

Even long periods of distraction
Can't erase them
Once they acknowledge it—

"Why does it always get so lonely?"

The yearning for another soul
To accompany them
During such moments

But always alone
In a dark room
With a thunderstorm
