Covid-19: A Social Earthquake

Oh Covid, you came upon us with a force,
A raging storm, a brutal course.
You shook our world, our institutions too,
And exposed the cracks that we never knew.

The systems built by man, so proud and tall,
Came crumbling down with just one call.
The economy, the healthcare, the social norms,
All exposed as fragile, all took new forms.

We saw the pain, the death, the fear, We saw the frontline, so very near. We saw the heroes, the selfless deeds, We saw the villains, the greedy needs.

We saw the weakness, the inequality, We saw the strength, the unity.
We saw the chaos, the confusion,
We saw the hope, the resolution.

Oh Covid, you revealed the flaws,
In our societies, our human laws.
You showed us how we need to change,
To build anew, to rearrange.

We must rebuild, with stronger walls, And better systems, for one and all. For the next generation, we must create,
A world that's fair, and compassionate.

So let us learn, from this great quake, And build a world that's strong, and great.
For Covid, you may have caused us pain,
But we'll emerge stronger, again and again
