Flattery in Hollywood

In Hollywood, the land of the stars,
A courtly game is played with cards, Where flattery is the currency,
And incompetence is the guarantee.

The producers sit upon their thrones, Demanding praise in grunts and moans,
And those who wish to climb the ranks,
Must bow and scrape and offer thanks.

But once they've reached a higher place,
They forget their humble face,
And snub the ones who got them there,
For new courtesans they can ensnare.

It's a merry-go-round of fame and fortune,
A game of chance, like Russian roulette,
And those who stay too long in the game,
May find themselves in debt.

So if you want to be a player,
In this court of kings and queens,
Just remember to keep your wits about you,
And never forget your roots and means
