I sat in front of the water, on my knees, staring off
"Why didn't you let me do it" I whispered in a soft sob
"You either die a hero, or live long enough to see yourself become the villain" Tony's voice echoes from behind me
I stand up quickly as I turn around, and I turn around to see Tony
He was see through, it he was there, I stood at the end of the dock, staring at him
"I'm proud of you" he smiles at me
"F- for- for what?" I ask, still stunned that he's talking to me
I was totally sober, which is how I knew he was there
"You got sober, Bucky and your kids are proud too" he takes a step closer
"How do you know?" I ask, finally getting over the fact that my dead brother was talking to me
"Your parents definitely don't watch over you" he does his Tony thing and shrugs his shoulders
Morgan swings the back door, facing me and the pond and runs to me
"Auntie yn!!!" She jumps into my hands, "hey kiddo"
I look up again, for Tony, but he disappeared, but pepper comes through the door too and walks out to me
"Hey, I saw you through the kitchen window, thought I'd come say hi" she says as she walks over
"Yea, I hope you dont mind, I was just-" she cuts me off
"I know, visit anytime" she smiles and picks Morgan up from my arms
"Can I come in?" I ask and point to the house
"Yeah of course, if you want, I'm making some Alfredo" we start walking to the house
"I'm good, thank you" I say but still walk with her inside
I walk down to where Tony would work on his tech and fancy stuff
I don't even make it all the way down the stairs before I burst into tears
I sit on the steps and cover my mouth so my sobs aren't loud enough for pepper or Morgan to hear
All of his stuff was untouched, but a small amount of dust had collected on everything
"Hello Mrs Barnes" Jarvis says, but I don't know where it came from
"How did you know I was here?" I ask
"Mr stark placed heat sensors and face recognition at the top of the stairway" I find where it's coming from
I realize jarvis isn't in the building like usual, but she was just a speaker on the table
"How are you still running?" I ask and find a suit, a woman's, but too short for pepper, and too tall for Morgan
"It's part of Starks algorithm" her words make me think of Zola
"This suit, who's it for?" I ask
"Mr stark made it for you" she says before a holographic of Tony appears
"Yn I don't know when you'll see this, but I know you will eventually. I want to apologize for treating you like you ruined everything, I was mad at myself for not being able to save you. I blamed myself everyday for how many times you were shot, and almost killed, and for your insanity, I don't know if it's possible, but I think I made it worse" the first part goes before I start to cry again
I bite my lip as it continues, "I'm sorry I wasn't there as much as I should've been, mentally and physically. I don't know many ways to apologize, but I know one. I made you a suit, I made it all black, there's a helmet if you want one, but you don't need it. It has built in guns and knives, and works with your powers, I'm really sorry yn" the holographic of him disappears
I turn to the suit and inspect it, I tap on one of the panels and I knife slides out
The steps creek softly and I close the panel as fast as I can
Morgan walks down, "daddy isn't down here, I check all the time", her words break my heart
She's so young, she doesn't know what death is, she just wants Tony
"I don't think he'll be down here anymore" I try my hardest to stop the tears
"Why not?" She asks so innocently
"He's stuck somewhere, but I'm gonna go find him and I'll try to bring him back" I smile and carry her upstairs
I set her down and walk to the kitchen where pepper is cooking
"I'm gonna go" I say
"Tell sage and Sadie I said hi" she waved to me as I walk out the door
The tears start flowing the second I close the door
When I get to my car, I sit there and cry, but I look through my windshield and see Tony standing on the dock
I drive away, back home, but I don't get out when I get there
I take a deep breath and walk into the house, feeling the cool air, different from the hot sticky air outside
"Hey mom" Sadie says from the couch, she's sitting next to Sadie while Bucky is in the kitchen cooking
"Hey" Sage says but brings her attention quickly back to her phone
I walk over to Bucky and kiss him, "hey handsome, whatcha cooking?" I ask
"Sadie wanted spaghetti" he kisses my head
I don't notice, but Sadie walks up behind the two of us
"Mom... can I talk to you?" Sadie shyly asks and looks at the ground
"Yeah honey of course" I follow her to her room, then sit on the bed next to her
She takes a deep breath, "I broke up with my boyfriend" she is still looking at the ground
"Why?" I ask so it seems like I'm contributing to the conversation
My heart pounds, scared of what she could say, but what she says is not something I thought of
"I'm a lesbian" she does a big sigh and flops back
I smile big, "that's great" I pull her into a hug and feel her smile
"You're not disappointed?" She asks, after pulling away from the hug
"I'm insane but I'm not a monster" I say and she smiles big
"I also had sex with Hailey" she catches me off guard
"We're you sa- your best friend?" I start with something that has nothing to do with lesbians
"Yea.." she looks at the floor again, until I laugh
"Get it girl" I lighten the mood and bring a smile back to her face
"Will dad be disappointed?" She asks and her smile drops again
"I'm bisexual" I give her a hint that Bucky wiling be disappointed in his daughter liking women
"You are?!" I can tell she's no longer scared of my opinion on her sexuality
"Yup" I smile
She stays quiet and her smile stays this time, "your sexuality would never make us disappointed in you, either of you" I say and walk out the door
