The sky is burning.
(Claude's P.O.V.)
"Get something to put out the fire before it reaches the Kingdom!"
"Get the swords - get any weapons that can do damage! Goddammit."
"We must hurry, GO! Go!"
Voices overlapped and became a jumble of sounds I couldn't hear precisely - not that I cared, at that specific moment. The limp body that I held in my hands was the only thing that mattered.
"Angel and Marcy, go scope out the enemy and report back to me!"
"Viola," the whisper parted my lips and vanished into the yells of war.
I could see the bright orange blames dimming down and only assumed that somehow we had put ofut the fire. In a split second, the bright lights beaming down around my home were shut off - probably on orders of my mother. The darkness of the night did not bother any of us nor would it greatly damage our chances in the war, seeing as we all could see perfectly in the dark and that the full moon helped dimly light our surroundings.
I proceeded in a run past the blurring figures while clutching Viola. My hair was matted to my forehead by the sweat cascading down my face and for the first time ever, I felt like I had never ran before. My breath seemed to catch in my throat and threatened to make me lose my balance as I sped past some maids in the kitchen carrying water and other various things to the warriors.
"Mr. Blackmore?" One called out, but soon I was traveling up some stairs to reach my destination.
I ran inside the open-doored room that was completely white. The cold tile floor squeaked under my feet as I stopped running, leaving a trail of mud and blood behind me. My eyes panicked as I searched for the bald-headed man who served as the Royal Doctor.
"Adam!" I yelled as I set Viola down gently on one of the patient beds.
My hands shook as I tried to adjust Viola into a comfortable position. "Adam, where the fu-"
"Claude?" The pale figure stalked out from the connected room where supplies and medicine were held. His black eyes jumped from me to Viola's figure, he quickly walked past some other empty patient beds that were brought in earlier specifically for this war. The room was big, but even we had predicted that it wouldn't be big enough if the war were to go south. Precisely eighteen beds fit in the room, 9 each on opposite walls. There were also heart monitors and other things that I didn't really bother to notice. I delicately gripped Viola's hand as my glance fell to the right of me, where just a few feet away stood the balcony doors. The fire wasn't completely out.
"What happened?" He questioned as he felt her forehead and examined her injuries.
"Does it matter? Just fucking fix her-"
"It matters, I need to know the damage done."
"I-" I swallowed a lump in my throat, "I don't know."
Quickly, Adam passed me a wet towel to try and help clean the mud off her face and body My teeth clenched as I passed over the fresh wounds. "Why isn't she healing," I demanded an answer.
Adam stayed silent as he cut open her shirt swiftly with a pair of scissors and gently carried her head forward to move all of her brown locks filled with dirt and leaves out of the way. The two pinpricks lay swollen on her neck, covered with bits of dried mud - I had marked her as mine. "Fix her," I whispered. "Please."
I let out a shaky breath as the doctor quickened his pace to the back room to retrieve supplies. "Who is this girl to you?" He questioned as he was back in a flash.
