Night Of Surprises
“Okay,” Lilith chirped, “After school, I will go to your house and then we can get ready. The Dance starts at 6.”
“Doesn’t it start at 5?” Daniel questioned with furrowed brows.
“No, what planet do you live on?” Lilith said with a chuckle.
“Apparently not this one,” Nick laughed. Daniel hit him in the shoulder in response, and ended up hurting himself.
“Ouch!” he whined.
“Aw, did my little football player get a booboo,” Lilith teased him.
“Lilith,” Daniel stated.
“Daniel,” Lilith said seriously.
“I love you,” he smiled.
“Aw,” she smiled, “I know you do!”
I burst out laughing as Daniel held a frown on his face. Nick was gasping from air for laughing to hard along with Lilith. The rest of the pack just shook their heads at us while we acted like idiots. It was lunch and we were all sitting around making plans for the dance later, which would be quite fun and, erm, eventful.
“I love you, too,” she pecked him on the lips and Nick and I let out a loud, over-dramatic “AWWWW”.
Right after, the bell rang ending lunch. We all separated and went to our classes, but not before Nick reminded me about how important tonight was. I was doing this for him after all, right? Of course I knew the importance of tonight! And I would make sure that things hopefully went as planned. Tonight, Nick would win over his mate.
I sat in sixth period as my eyes wandered all over the classroom. Tonight would be fun, really fun. Dancing the night away with friends that had now become close to me. It seemed so normal, if you put aside the me going with Nick only for him to get Selene, the fact that there are werewolves and a vampire, and that Claude and I dislike each other. But, nonetheless it seemed like a normal night for a teenager, which I loved. I imagined the look Claude would get when he saw me in my costume, it would be priceless.
I shook my foot impatiently, I wanted the night to start already!
Lilith stared straight at me as she walked in, holding the big smile she always wore. She wiggled her eyebrows at me as Claude’s scent overpowered me. So, that's why she was wiggling her eyebrows. When will she get that he dislikes me as much as I dislike him? Not to mention that it is against our nature to go for a vampire, not that any of us would even think of it to begin with.
‘You’ve thought of it,’ a soft voice spoke in my mind.
I was caught off guard as Claude swept into the room, swiftly walking to his seat as he looked up at me and threw me a small smile. I completely forgot about the voice as my heart raced, the beating filling my ears. My face flushed as soon as I saw that Lilith was looking at me with a not so shocked face.
“What?” I muttered.
“Oh my god,” she whispered with a smile.
“What?” I asked again.
“You like him,” she winked.
“What?!” I yelled while whispering, “You have no idea how many things are wrong with that statement!”
“Deny all you want, but you know it’s true,” she sang out.
“I have lived here for about a month, and all we’ve done is bicker, tease, and fight with each other. How the hell does that translate to liking each other?” I asked a bit horrified.
