Emerson Ramseyer (Part Two)

My chest rose up and down with each heavy breath I inhaled and exhaled as I ran. The birds seemed to acknowledge my presence now as twigs snapped under my running feet and bushes swayed as I flew past them. The cold fresh air finally hit me hard as I ran - but I wasn't running away from the figure. I was running to the black clothed figure that stood meters away from me.

"Viola!"

"Marty!" I grinned as I pulled him into a big hug. As we parted, I lightly hit him on the shoulder as a frowned crossed my face, "You shouldn't be jumping out at people in forests, ya'know."

"Scared I might die?" He joked with a grin plastered on his freshly shaven face.

I replied with light-hearted laugh, despite that fear being instilled in me. Yes, I thought sincerely, I'm scared you might die.

My eyes roamed his body, but not because I was checking him out. Curiosity filled me as I noticed Marty was wearing a formal black suit along with black dress shoes. Marty gave me a toothy smile when my eyes met his face again.

"You like?" He wiggled his eyebrows to me in a suggestive manner.

I let out a chuckle as I shook my head. "I like," I winked at him, "But why are you dressed up?"

"I was on a date with this fabulous woman I met in France," Marty spoke nonchalantly.

I hit him on the shoulder as my mouth gaped open. "Why didn't you tell me! I interrupted your date, oh go-"

"Please, you did me a favor," Marty shrugged. He leaned slighty closer to me and whispered, "To tell you the truth, she was not at all fabulous."

"Why are you whispering?" I laughed, "We're in a forest for godsakes."

"I was doing it for dramatic effect," He let out a chuckle.

"Dramatic effect," I mocked him a tone of voice that he didn't even have.

"Shut up," Marty sighed as a smile found its way onto his face, "C'mon, the jet is this way."

He began to trail forward between the millions of green trees that surrounded us. I followed behind him, subtly looking around for an suspicious activity. In a matter of minutes, we arrived to a small clearing that held Marty's jet. The sight of that white flying machine seemed to warm my heart, it was one of the few things that was constant throughout the last couple years of my lonesome life.

Once inside, I made myself comfortable in the large, cushioned seats. My eyes travelled outside the windows of the private jet, exploring the expanding forest that hid the Vampire Kingdom from the eyes of humans.

"Where to?" Marty interrupted my thoughts.

"Uh," I paused for a second, "New York, Wolf Lake State Forest."

"I'm starting to think you're some sort of spy," Marty chuckled to himself as he began to walk to the pilot area of the jet. I let out a chuckle myself at the image of me wearing an all black body suit and guns of all sorts, like in the movies.

"Well, Agent Diamond," Marty spoke in a serious tone over the intercom, "I have a mission for you. It involves the well-being of all humans and you are the only one who's able to stop it-"

"Marty just drive the plane!" I yelled with a laugh.

"Will do, Agent Diamond," Marty spoke in the same tone, "Commander over."

A small trail of laughter floated from the pilot area to where I sat, causing me to grin a little. I grabbed my cell phone out of my pocket and checked the time, only 6:55am. With a sigh, I shoved my cell phone back into my jean pocket.
