The King's Castle
I sat down on the comfortable bed with white sheets as Claude shut the door to “my new bedroom”. I glanced around once more, taking it all in. I was really in Essex with Claude in the castle that would be his, in time. It all seemed too unreal. It felt as if I had been here before, in this castle and in this room. All of it seemed too familiar, almost as if a forgotten dream.
Dream. My mind flashed back to the dream I had on the plane ride over here to Essex not to long ago. I couldn’t see anything but pure darkness but I could hear the voices of four beings. They all sounded menacing and deadly in a way, but only one had sounded very familiar.
“Emer-”
My eyes widen with curiosity as something one of them had said flashed in my mind.
“Rams.”
I furrowed my brows slightly as I swallowed hard, knots forming in my stomach.
The sound of knocking on my door brought my back to reality and out of the trance I had been in. A bit flustered, I got up from my bed and hurried to the door.
“Yes?” I answered as I opened the door to my unknown vistor.
“Hello, Miss,” a lady curtsied.
The woman was shorter than I was, and probably much much prettier. She was thin but toned, you could even tell in the maid’s outfit she wore. She had long, blonde hair that reminded me of Lilith’s. Her eyes were a piercing hazel, the brown and green mixture dancing in her beautiful eyes. She was definitely a vampire, but she was the first one who actually hadn’t shown any distaste towards me - unlike Jives and the other maid from earlier.
“Please, call me Viola,” I smiled.
“Viola,” she stated with a smile, “That’s such a pretty name.”
“What’s yours?” I asked with curiosity.
“Oh Viola,” she said politely, “I’m a maid, I’m not supposed to be having conversation with any guests.”
“Really?” I furrowed my brows, “But what if I want to?”
“Then, I guess I must obey orders since I am your personal maid now,” she smiled.
“Wait, personal maid?” I asked, “Why do I need a personal maid?”
“To clean your room, help you get ready, all those sorts of things,” she answered.
“But I can do all those things on my own,” I stated.
“Ah, just please let me help you. It’s my job,” she stated a bit with worry.
“Oh, yeah sorry,” I spoke, “I’m just not used to all this,” I gestured to everything around me.
“Welcome to the King’s Castle,” she grinned.
“Sorry, come in!” I gestured her to enter “my” room and she did.
As I closed the door shut, I turned to her, “So, what is your name?”
“Kristen,” she said with another curtsy.
“You don’t have to do that,” I stated with a frown.
“Do what, Miss?” she questioned with a tone as if she had done something wrong.
“You don’t have to curtsy or be overly polite,” I answered with a soft smile, “And you don’t have to call me Miss. Call me Viola, Kristen.”
