I've Been Having These Weird Dreams Lately
‘Run,’ the voice in my head yelled, ‘Run, girl!’
Panting, I darted around the trees as fast as I could. The night was ice cold and the full moon looked like a blurry white circle over my head. The forest was eerie, the trees groaning with the wind. I was barefoot, rocks cutting into my flesh and blisters forming on the bottom of my feet. My heart was pounding in my ears, the sweat dripping down my face.
I didn’t dare turn back and face the monsters coming after me. I listened to the voice in my head and ran with all my might, my chest heaving up and down in a pathetic attempt to gather all the air I could. I could hear the swift cut through air around me, indicating that the monsters were all around me. They were taunting me. I couldn’t escape in human form, but I still ran for my life. I tried changing into my wolf form, but nothing happened - I couldn’t do it.
My ears pricked up listening to all the little noises of the dead forest. I could hear no animals, no birds, no insects - nothing but the dead wind and monsters coming after me.
‘Don’t stop running,’ the voice in my head screamed.
I quickly glanced behind me at the complete dark forest. Startled by looking at two blue eyes, I fell on to the dirt ground. I quickly turned to face the figure and started moving back by pushing myself with my feet. My back hit a tree and petrified, a small whimper left my lips.
The pair of blue eyes smirked with happiness, catching it’s prey: me. It lay hidden in the forest’s darkness while the moonlight shone on me through the cracks of branches. I could hear the other monsters all around me, watching closely.
The figure moved forward, coming into the little light. It’s blonde fur gently moved along with the wind. It moved slowly, placing it’s paws closer and closer to me. It bared it's teeth and lunged at me.
I launched up in my bed, panting as I looked around my empty room. I held a hand up to my thundering heart as my breathing slowly became normal. My room was illuminated by the moonlight shining through my window, but besides that it was crawling with shadows. A drop of sweat rolled down my brow and I wiped it off. Still startled, my eyes darted around the room while my ears listened for anyone that could be near. My entire house was empty, but my body still was on edge.
The clock in my room read 4:54am, which meant it was just Friday morning and I would have to be awake in about two hours. I lay back in my bed and stared at the ceiling, my heart slowly returning to it's normal beat.
The dream had felt so real, the running, the sweat, the cold, dirt floor, the everything. I couldn’t make any sense of the dream. A blonde furred wolf had been chasing me, for an unknown reason, and its intentions where to murder me in that dead forest. The wolf had been accompanied by vampires, which made no sense either.
“It’s just a dream,” I whispered to myself, “just a dream.”
I closed my eyes and saw darkness in my eyelids. I took a deep breath in and let it out, attempting to calm myself down so I could sleep before heading to school.
As I was drifting to sleep, blue eyes stared back at me in my mind. They looked evil and menacing, waiting for me in the shadows of my own mind.

“Hey girlie!” Lilith chirped as I got to her locker. “What’s wrong?” she frowned looking at me appearance.
“I couldn't get much sleep last night,” I mumbled as I frowned, “bad dreams.”
