Paris' POV
"HAPPY Birthday to you! Happy Birthday to you! Happy Birthday, Happy Birthday, Happy Birthday to you!" Kumakanta si Mama sabay palakpak sa kanyang dalawang kamay.
I am wearing a colorful birthday hat and facing a big Barbie theme cake. I was smiling from ear to ear and my two front teeth were showing. My two front teeth were pulled out three weeks ago and the new ones are already showing and bigger than my baby teeth.
It was my 6th birthday when I got my first birthday trip to Disney World. We were in a hotel room after we tour around Disney World for the first time.
"Make a wish!" Excited na saad ni Mama sa akin.
Ipinikit ko ang aking mga mata. Simple lang ang naging hiling ko. Yun ay ang magkaroon ako ng maraming kaibigan. I didn't have any materialistic wishes. All I want are friends. I blew out the candle that's shaped like the number 6.
It was one of the best birthdays I had. We went to Disney World, nakita ko ang mga Disney Princesses, I also saw Mickey Mouse. I thought birthdays are the best thing in the world at first but not until I started to understand things.
Birthdays mean you're getting older. Every year, we're getting less of a child until we get old. I started hating the celebration of my birthday when Mom invited her friends to our house.
Unang pagkakataon iyon na nangyari. Napansin ko na magdamag na paglilinis ang ginawa ni Mama sa bahay. She was so tired just to please someone else in our home. She was so busy and had no time for me. I was wondering at that time why she needs to bother doing all things for someone else. We can still celebrate my birthday just the two of us. It is even more fun when we go to either Disneyland or Disney World.
She spent a little less money celebrating my birthday in our house, but she's more tired. The visitors came to my birthday. I don't know any of them. They were welcomed to our house and made a little house tour.
They gave me gifts and acted like I know them. I feel indifferent towards them and did not say anything. They celebrated my birthday and ate the food. My Mom was busy entertaining her friends. I can't possibly join them and talk to the adults. I decided to go to my room to play with my dolls instead.
It is not yet my bedtime and I am allowed to play at this time. I entered my room. The room is white and has a minty green color. I want my room to be pink but Mom said that it will cost too much money to renovate my room.
Instead of renovating my room, she bought all the books that I want to read. At first, my Mom was not interested in the books I grab from the bookstore. Not until the store owner asked who would read such complicated mathematical books and science. I also have a lot of literature books and even general knowledge books.
That was the time that Mom noticed I am not the same as normal kids. My room is filled with books that only professionals are ready to continue their studies. I was curious and I wanted to know things. I learned about programming when our neighbor was also a programmer and an underground hacker. He has a lot of books that are not sold anywhere and can only be bought on the black market.
Mom would leave me at our neighbor's. He was mature and did not marry because of his preference. He's gay but doesn't want to get married to a man or have a relationship. But he also feels gross with girls. He was complicated but he was fond of me. He always calls me 'doll'.
He allowed me to read his books and that's where I found the programming. It was confusing to me at first so I asked a few things and he answered like he was talking to an adult. I understand how he explain things and became interested in programming.
