Paris' POV

"CHANGE?" I exclaimed silently. Nagtataka ako sa ekspresyon ni Mama na tila tinubuan ako ng dalawang ulo.

"Your brows and eyelashes are few folds darker! They look like darker blonde or light brown." Puna ni Mama. "How is this possible? Were you putting some color on your eye brows and lashes?"

Mas lalong kumunot ang noo ko dahil sa narinig ko mula sa kanya. She's now accusing me of wearing make up? Hindi ako magaling magmake up. It itakes skills to do a pretty make up na hindi pangit tingnan at wala akong talent dun. Madalas, yun mga make up ng mga kaklase ko ay hindi maganda ang pagkakalagay. They look cakey at nagsa-smodge. Lalo na yung kilay na tila parang sungay na ng kalabaw yung porma.

Kung magmemake up ako, gusto ko yung maganda ang pagkakalagay. Yung hindi mapipintasan. Tamang lipstick at pulbo lang ang alam ko.

"Mom, what are you talking about? I'm not wearing any make up," mahinang sagot ko sa kanya. Ayokong marinig ng iba ang kung ano man ang pinag-uusapan namin.

"Not just that. Your eyes, they are not shaking. They are so still..." namamanghang puna ni Mama at halos ilapit na niya ang mukha niya sa mukha ko. "It's almost like you are not you."

"Mom!" Pigil ko naman sa kanya dahil nagiging weirdo na siya sa ginagawa niya.

"Is this one of the effect of the hypnotism?" Nanlalaki ang mga mata ni Mama na tila may nadiskubre itong isang napakagandang bagay.

No. Hypnotism doesn't alter someone's appearance or even their skin color. Hindi ko mapigilan na buksan ang camera ng cellphone ko at tiningnan ang mukha ko. Medyo nagulat din ako nang makita ko ang ibig sabihin ni Mama.

My brows are still blonde but brownish. My hair though is still yellowish white like how it's used to be. But my brows and lashes, they are a few shades darker. It emphasized my features more than before. I didn't know that I have phoenix eyes. My eyes are not shaking which completely baffled me.

Wait, there is still a mystery that happened to me a few days ago. That bionic ear incident. It goes on and off and somehow, I was able to control it. It no longer bothers me and I could choose which I would like to listen.

Earlier, I felt the change of my vision and my dislike of the sun. Ngunit kung sasabihin ko ang misteryong ito kay Mama, alam ko na mapupunta lang iyon sa maraming katanungan. It's better to let her think the way as it is.

"I guess so. Merlin said that there will be changes. I guess, after he took my weakness towards the sun, melanin started to gather on my eyebrows and lashes," sagot ko sa kanya at seryosong seryoso ang ekspresyon ko. Is it even possible to take away my weakness against the sun? It was not even psychological, it was all with genetics. Genes cannot be altered through hypnosis.

Napatakip naman si Mama sa kanyang bibig. "I can't believe he's too legit. This is more than my expectation," tugon niya. Hindi siya mahilig sa mga komplikadong bagay kaya hindi mahilig mag-isip ng malalim at papaniwalaan na lang niya ang isang paliwanag. "You look even prettier with dark brows and eyelashes." Komento niya habang namamangha na nakatingin sa akin.

Hindi ko alam pero nahihiya ako tuwing pinupuri ako ni Mama. I grow up being called as freak because I was too white. Ininda ko ang lahat ng yun dahil wala naman pisikalan na nagaganap. But the verbal abuse, it made me don't want to go to school.

Natigil lang ang verbal bullying noon tumuntong na ako sa high school. Having an albinism no longer matters. A lot of people even colored their hair the same as mine. Here in the US, being white and blonde is a privilege. Racism and colorism is way too much. If your skin is black, you are easily get suspicion of something bad.
