Kie's POV:

We laid in JJ's small twin bed together and he was laying on his back and I was on my side. He took a breath and he was about to tell me about his mom. He's never really talked about her before.

"I don't remember much from my childhood or about her. I just remember being happy. Her name was Lily and she was a pogue. There were nights when I'd hear my parents fight or times when my mom would cry. I didn't understand it back then. I don't know if my dad every hurt her or if they just fought. But one day she was just gone. My dad started drinking and acting different and I started hiding in my room from him"

He sat up and said, "Come here"

He got out of bed and grabbed my phone and turned the flashlight on. He brought me into his closet and he crawled into the corner and moved a few things and motioned for me to come in.

I squeezed in next to him and on the wall in the very back corner was a tally chart. It was full of marks and I think so already knew what he was counting. It broke my heart thinking of a small JJ hiding in his closet, seeking comfort.

"I started keeping track of how many times I'd hear them fight and then they turned into how often he'd hit me or we'd get into a fight" He said in almost a whisper

I rested my head on his shoulder and wrapped my arms around his bicep. He moved a floorboard and pulled out a small cardboard box. Inside there were only a few items. One of them was a picture of little JJ and his mom. The picture made me smile and he showed me a few other things in the box. There wasn't much but some cash, another picture of JJ with his parents together, a necklace, and an old card from when JJ turned three that was signed 'Love mom and dad'

He pulled the necklace out and it was a silver necklace with a small silver turtle on it. He said, "You should have this"

"It was your moms, Jajy"

"I know and she isn't here anymore, but you are and I love you and I know you love turtles so if it isn't weird, you should have it"

"I'd love it" I smiled as it was a beautiful necklace

He moved my hair and put the necklace on me. I turned and kissed him and we moved back to his bed.

I was on my back and had his rest his head on my chest. He continued to talk and I played with his hair and lightly rubbed his back. I could tell this was hard for him to talk about.

"I know it's probably hard for you to understand, my dad is an abusive asshole, I know that. I fucking hate him most of the time but then there's times like this, when he's sober and he's the dad I remember as a kid..."

"You don't have to justify it. I completely understand and support you... I'll be here for you no matter what" I whispered kissing the top of his head

JJ's POV:

So I basically just told Kie my childhood trauma and showed her my little hideout in the closet. She totally started crying when she saw all the tally makes on my wall. What really broke my heart was when she whispered, "I'm sorry for being such a bitch to you all those years. You already were dealing with serious shit from your dad and I made it worse"

I reassured her that our ongoing feud was nothing and it honestly was kinda fun. We were back laying in my small ass bed and I was laying on her chest and she was playing with my hair and rubbing my back. I felt so safe with her. I was so in love with Kiara Anna Carrera.

Okay, so we did end up having sex but not like normal kind of sex we usually have. This meant so much more. It was more like we were both trying to show each other how in love we were. We woke up the next morning and went to make breakfast. Kie was making pancakes and my dad got up and sat at the table. He was still in a good mood. We ate breakfast and my dad even had a stupid Christmas tree.

Kie had brought presents over. My dad even got me and Kie something. We opened the box and inside was a small bag of weed, a box of condoms, and a bottle of vodka.

Kie's face turned red and I laughed and my dad said, "I know it's not what you'd expect from your dad but I'm not a normal dad. I know what teenagers like and that's weed, booze, and sex"

"Thank you, Luke" Kie said politely

After gifts, my dad opened up the bottle of vodka he got up and took a few large gulps. I knew it was time to leave. Kie grabbed her stuff and we were leaving before my dad turned into a monster. She was driving back to her house. She parked her car and she looked at me and I said, "I'm so sorry about him and his ridiculous gift"

"Honestly, it's kinda funny... Before the whole slamming the vodka thing, it was good. I'm glad we got to spend Christmas with him. I'm glad I got to see Luke the way you remember him"

"Thank you for going, it means a lot to me... Ready for kook Christmas now?"

"No, I'd rather just spend Christmas with you" She said kissing me

We went inside in our matching pajamas and my mom came and hugged us. She had a bunch of presents under the tree and the stockings were full. Her extended family was gone and it was just her parents.

Kie made me take cute pictures in our matching pajamas. Mike and Anna had a stocking for me and a bunch of present. Thankfully, Kie had helped me pick out gifts for them.

Mike was really nice today, which was a surprise. Kie and I took a nap together on the couch and when we woke up, Anna had made something that smelled amazing. We all went and sat at the table and it was some type of pasta. It was amazing.

I spent the whole day with the Carrera's. We played games and watched a movie. It was the best Christmas ever. I felt a little guilty as they got me like ten gifts. It was getting late and Kie and I headed up to her room.

Mike looked at me and said, "No funny business"

"No sir" I said

"Goodnight" Anna said to both of us

We headed up to her room and Kie shut and locked her bedroom door. She went into the bathroom and I heard her turn on the bathtub water, A few minutes later, she came out into her room.

"Come sit with me"

"Kie, your dad is going to freak out"

"He isn't going to know and even if he does, who cares"

She went into the bathroom and took her pajamas off and got into the bathtub. I followed closely behind her and joined her. We just sat in there together, her back pressed against my chest, talking about our first Christmas together.
