Kie's POV:

We pulled up to an older house on the cut. JJ carried me inside and we shared a long passionate kiss and he said, "Welcome home, baby"

The house didn't have electricity, it still needed some work done, but it was ours. He held my hand and gave me a tour of the house starting on the main level. We got upstairs and he said, "Here's our room, the best view in the house"

I looked out the window and you could see the ocean from the balcony. It was a perfect place to watch sunsets. He brought me over to the closet and said, "You might not be a kook anymore, but you still a kook wardrobe so I made sure you had a closet big enough"

I smiled as he remembered me saying that when we first started dating. We went into the next room and he said, "This is going to be our baby's room"

I was trying not to cry because I couldn't wait to have our son or daughter in this room. He showed me the rest of the house and he lit a few candles and we sat on the kitchen floor and ate the pizza he picked up.

"I feel bad about making you eat on the floor, but I wanted to let you pick out all the furniture and decorations. If I did it, it would look awful"

"That's sweet, but we'll do it together because it's our house and together we're going to make it home"

JJ brought me into the living room and he laid a blanket down and he had a projector set up on one of the walls and he turned the Notebook on.

We laid down curled up on the floor in a blanket. We watched the movie but by the time we got to the rain kiss, we were too busy making out to pay attention to the movie.

We spent the night together on the floor of our house all tangled up. I woke up the next day early to JJ playing with my hair and whispering, "Good morning, Kie"

"Good morning" I said half asleep

"Sorry to wake you up so early, but you gotta come see the view"

"I thought I was the view" I joked

"Oh, you are and always will be, but this is a close second" He said

He was in his boxers and he tossed me his t-shirt. I put it on and he brought me up to our bedroom where you could see the sun rising over the ocean, it was beautiful.

We watched the sunrise and then we both got dressed and went back to my parent's house. I took a shower and packed my bag, said goodbye to my parents, and then JJ took me to the airport.

JJ's POV:

Kie left to finish the rest of her Spring semester. She only had a few weeks left. While she's been gone, I've basically been working super hard. When I wasn't working at the Wreck and working on cars, I was working on the house. Mike has actually been super helpful with letting me borrow his truck and coming over to be a second set of hands.

I wanted to have the house done before the wedding, at least have it livable. I worked my ass off and the day came when Mike hooked his trailer up to his truck and the two of us started the three-day trip to California to pick our girl up.

I'll admit, I was a bit nervous to be trapped in a truck with Mike for three days. It started off good, we switched off drivers every few hours and we stopped to stay at a hotel for the night.

We got up early the next day and spent all day driving. Mike had the radio on and we were able to talk and when we weren't talking, it didn't feel awkward. I never thought that Mike and I would be on a three-day road trip together, but here we are and we are getting along.

"When are you planning on moving into the house?" Mike asked

"Whenever the electricity is running and Kie helps me pick out some furniture"

"When Anna and I moved in together, I let her do all the decorating too" He laughed

"I just hope she's happy living in the house with me" I admitted

"JJ, I didn't always like you, but my daughter did. At first, I didn't know why she'd want to be with you but then I saw the way you treated her, how happy she was when you were around, and I still acted like a dick. I'm sorry for that, but you took my crap and you're still here. I got to know you and I'm certain that there is no better man for my daughter. I was wrong years ago when I said that Kiara belonged with Lucas, she belongs with you just like you belong with her. As long as she has you, that's all she'll ever need in life"

Damn. Who knew Mike Carrera had a heart. Luckily, he didn't make me say anything as he said, "One more thing, I know you and your father have a complicated relationship. I'm here if you ever need anything. I meant what I said earlier, I know you didn't hear a lot of compliments and good things about yourself growing up, but you've turned into an amazing young man... Now enough with this emotional shit. I want to hear about the new car garage you've been looking at buying"

"Thank you, Mike..." I said before telling him about how I wanted to expand my business. The next morning, we showed up at Kie's house and she ran out and jumped into my arms. She then hugged her dad and we spent all morning packing up her stuff into the trailer and Mike's truck. She said goodbye to her friends and roommates and we were headed back towards the Outer Banks.

We only drove for about six hours before we stopped as it was getting late. Mike got us a hotel room and the three of us were sharing a room.

Kie took a shower and her dad was in the bed next to me. She walked over and laid down in bed next to me. We kept our distance and both scrolled on our phones before shutting the lights off and once Mike was asleep, I pulled Kie closer to me so she was the little spoon. I kissed the top of her head we both fell asleep.
