JJ's POV:

We were on the ferry to go shopping for Midsummers. We went to this store and it was all so fancy. We got me fitted for a suit first and then Kie went dress shopping.

I was kind of excited to get to help her pick out the dress. She asked if there was a certain color we should wear. She started to try on a few dresses and she found this red dress. She didn't come out of the dressing room in it, but she told her mom this was the dress. Her mom went to buy it and I asked, "Why didn't you let me see you in the dress?"

She game me a look and whispered, "I didn't want my mom to watch you get a boner"

"I mean, I guess I should thank you but now I really want to see you in that dress"

"You will... At Midsummers"

We left the store and we went and to a few other stores. Kie and I were acting like children and just goofing around. Her mom took us out to lunch and I felt bad that she bought my tux, so I tried to pay for lunch.

"JJ, we invited you... Don't worry about paying for anything" Anna said with a smile

"Thank you, Mrs. Carrera"

"You can call me Anna" She said

We enjoyed our food and Kie stole food off my plate. This was typical of her. We'd order different things and then she would decide that my food tasted better so we'd switch meals. We talked throughout lunch and Anna told me about the day Kie came home with gum in her hair and how long it took to get it out. I apologized and she laughed and told me about how she knew I had a crush on Kie.

It was a super fun afternoon with Kie and Anna. I couldn't believe how cool her mom was about this whole situation. Her mom was acting the same way that she did when she was with Sarah.

We were on the ferry back and once we got back to the Outer Banks, I said goodbye to Kie. We were talking and I wanted to kiss her but her mom was right there watching us. I asked, "Are you sure? In front of you mom?"

"Yeah" She smiled as I pressed my lips to hers

It was just a quick kiss but it was better than nothing.

Kie's POV:

Midsummers was finally here! Sarah was coming over to get ready with me. My dad was pissed that I was bringing JJ as my dad. Sarah was wearing a black dress and I was in a red dress (the red dress she had on in season 3)

We walked down the stairs and my parents were there. They took pictures of me and Sarah outside and the boys were coming soon to pick us up. We weren't riding there together as our boyfriends would murder each other.

Topper picked Sarah up and they left. JJ showed up and he was holding flowers for me. JJ's eyes were glued to me. My mom took a bunch of pictures of us. My dad was forcing us to ride with my parents there. The car ride was pretty quiet on the way there. We got there and got out of the car.

"JJ, I expect the two of you to stay at Midsummers the whole time. No funny business"

"I promise, Mr. Carrera" JJ said as we walked away and went off on our own

I could tell JJ was nervous. I've grown up doing kook shit like this but this was his first time. I kept him close to my side and held his hand as we walked in. Everyone was looking at us and totally judging me for dating a pogue. It made me super uncomfortable and I know JJ felt the same way.

"Damn, I need a drink" He whispered to me

"Same" I whispered back

Sarah came over and told us how good we looked together. People stopped looking at us and we were able to relax.

We had been there for about two hours. We ate and then we went for a little walk so we were on the beach. JJ said, "I meant what I said about you looking beautiful in that dress, but you look so fucking sexy"

I was totally blushing and said, "I could say the same thing about you in that suit"

We were making out and then we were interrupted by a few rain drops. We went back to the country club and stood under the balcony with everyone else.

People continued dancing and we just stood there talking. A slow song came on and he looked at me and asked, "Do you want to dance?"

"You know how to dance?" I asked shocked as I never would have guessed JJ knew how to slow dance

"Yeah" He said as put his hand on my waist and held the other

We were in more of a traditional slow dance position and he actually knew what he was doing.

"When did you learn how to slow dance?"

"Honestly, I've been practicing with John B" He said laughing

I laughed and said, "Well, I appreciate it but you could have just asked me"

"I know, but I wanted to surprise you"

"I'm glad you did"

The song was ending and another one came on. It was crowded here and JJ looked at me and grabbed my hand and he walked out down the stairs into the rain as we continued with our dance. This time, my arms were loose around his neck and his arms were around my hips.

We were now soaking wet in the rain. He even spun me a double of times and then he did something super unexpected. He dipped me, so perfectly and I looked into his eyes. When I stood back up, he whispered, "I love you, Kiara Anna Carrera"

"I love you too, JJ Maybank"

I leaned in and kissed him and I honestly forgot we weren't alone until a kook yelled, "Get a room"

We broke apart and I saw my mom smiling and my dad looked pissed. JJ and I weren't welcomed back in the country club as we were wet. My dad said he didn't want us in the car so we walked back to my house in the rain.

My feet hurt, so I took my shoes off and walked barefoot. JJ and I acted like children in the rain, jumping in puddles and spinning around. We took a couple of pictures and then we went up the stairs under the porch in my house. My parents were home and my mom brought us out towels.

She took a picture of us and said, "It looks like you guys had a great time. How was your first Midsummers, JJ?"

"Amazing, thanks to your daughter"

We dried off and then I was going to drop JJ off as Pope dropped him off and it was a long walk home. My dad didn't want me alone with JJ.

"Dad, it's a long walk back for him and it's dark and raining. Just let me drop him off. I promise to come right home"

"Fine, but you will drop him off and come directly home"

"I promise" I said as we went out to my car

I got in the drivers seat and started driving to the cut. I pulled up to JJ's house and leaned over and I impulsively started making out with him. I'm sure my dad was timing me so I pulled away and said, "Thank you for the best Midsummers ever"

"I love you, baby" He said which I've never heard him say that, but honestly, I liked it

"I love you too" I kissed him again before he got out and went inside

I drove back home and my dad was waiting by the front door. He looked at me like he was pissed and he said, "Go shower and come back down here so we can talk"

Shit. He was pissed and I knew I was going to be in trouble. I took the vase of wildflowers that JJ brought me up to my room. I went in the bathroom and took my soaking wet dress off and got in the shower. I wished JJ was here with me right now.

I hung my dress up in the bathroom to let it dry. I hope my mom wasn't mad that it was probably ruined. Now to go face my dad.
