[your apartment]

It was quiet when Shin and his goons broke in, barging through your front door without warning,
"Check the closets and all the bedrooms," Shin ordered as they were welcomed with nothing but silence and darkness, "If she puts up a fight. Knock her out," he hissed,

Shin could feel it in his bones that something was off, he just couldn't figure out what,

"Bedrooms are clear," one of the guys informed him,
"No one in the closets or under the bed. Checked her drawers too. Looks like she packed some things and left,"
"Ugh, the boss is not going to be happy," Shin sighed deeply before he picked up his phone and dialed quickly,
"This better be good," Viper snapped,
"No sign of her boss. Looks like she made a break for it,"
"Such a naughty girl. She must want me to find her for myself," Viper sneered, "Clear out. Put everything back where it should, and meet me at the docks in an hour,"
"Copy that,"

[Republic City Prison]

"Of all days to have a prisoner go missing, why did it have to be today?" the warden sighed in defeat when he spotted Varrick's car pulling up in the distance,
"Should we tell him?" one of the guards asked,
"He's the new owner, we have to tell him. A man with that much money would fire us all if he found out we lost Shah again—
"Warden Feng?" another guard called from the doorway with a folder in hand,
"Captain, what did you find?" the warden breathed,
"Not much. Barely a footprint 200 yards outside the fence,"
"That's impossible," the warden hissed as he rose to his feet and paced around his office,
"I know. Given the number of times we've arrested Shah Uri, his medical records show that he is a non-bender,"
"What about his call records?"
"He only made one. To another prison. Who he spoke to, we don't know,"
"There's no way a man without a single element at his immediate disposal flew out of my prison!" the warden scoffed in disbelief, a pair of flames flickering from his fists in pure rage, "I want RCPD's best detectives on this. Shah cannot leave this city. Whether that's dead or alive is up to him. Understood?"
"Yes, Warden Feng," the guards bowed,
"Good. Dismissed,"

[Mako's apartment]

You hadn't noticed just how fast you had been pacing until you nearly tripped over your own feet. You also hadn't noticed just how much time that had passed since you stood there either, thinking of every possible solution where you would come out of this alive,
"I don't have any other choice. I-I gotta get out of the city," you panicked once your eyes landed on your duffel bag, still packed and ready to go, "A-All I need is a few bucks to catch a ferry ride out of town and then I-I can hitch a ride somewhere and–ahh!"
"I didn't mean to scare you," Mako chuckled when he came through his front door with a large pizza in hand,
"Where the hell have you been!?" you shouted at him,
"Uhh, at the office. A-Are you okay?"
"No, I'm going to be dead because of you!"
"I'm lost here," Mako smirked as he eyed you curiously, "Did you have a bad dream or did you have another panic attack while I was gone?"
"You don't get to ask me that. Did you go see Viper!?" you questioned sharply,
"No. Why do you ask?" Mako fibbed as he rummaged through the fridge for a beer,
"Don't lie to me," you hissed, marching up to him with your fists clenched,
"I didn't! A-And even if I did, what's the issue with me protecting you?"
"Protecting me!?" you repeated until your eyes landed on his bandaged fist, "You did go see him, didn't you!?"
"I already said I didn't," Mako repeated,
"What happened to your hand then?" you scoffed as you snatched his wrist,
"Fine. I...I-I might've run into him while I was out,"
"Mako! A-Are you fucking insane!?" you shouted while you backed away from him,
"No! But you know what is? Covering for a man like that. W-Why didn't you tell me when I asked you earlier?"
"Because I knew you'd do this!" you shouted at him as he slowly closed the distance between the two of you, his fingers tucked lightly beneath your chin, "I-I knew you'd start meddling and get all judment–
"Judgmental of who?" Mako asked after stealing a quick kiss off your pouting lips, "You?"
"Who else!?" you snapped as he tried to distract you with more kisses, "What did he say to you?"
"That's not important," Mako breathed into your neck,
"Mako, I'm serious—Hey!
"So am I," he smirked after he tossed you over his shoulder and sat you down on the counter, "You're going to learn to quit yelling at me," he threatened playfully as he gave you the rest of his beer and slid the large pizza box next to you, "Now shut your pretty face and eat,"
"I'm not hungry," you protested,
"I didn't ask that,"
"Mako!—
"Look. I wasn't going to say anything, but you're not the only one who has loose ends to tie up with Viper, okay?" Mako snapped,
"What–W-What do you mean by that?" you questioned sourly,
"Forget it," Mako sighed before he went into his room and shut the door,

For a minute or two you sat there fuming. The anger in your breathing, the only remaining noise left to bounce off the walls until you decided to follow him,

"You don't get to tell me to forget it!" you shouted as you burst in on Mako stripping out of his work clothes, "Y-You can't just barge into my life and m-mess everything up for m–
"What did I tell you about yelling at me?" Mako smirked after he spun you around and cuffed your wrists behind your back,
"L-Let me out of these," you ordered,
"You gonna be good if I do?" Mako teased before he bent you over the bed,
"Don't start this again," you whined when you felt him press his waist up against you, his hardness already throbbing between your thighs, "T-That was just a one-time thing,"
"Is that what it was?" Mako chuckled while he gripped a fistful of your hair, his fingers already rubbing your clit through your shorts, "Because surely, there must be some room left for me to make a second impression," he teased as he slipped two fingers inside of you,
"Mmph! I-It was—t-the biggest mistake of my life," you whimpered, biting your lip to keep yourself from moaning,
"Hmph. You really get a kick out of trying to hurt my feelings," Mako grinned with his dick in hand, the tip teasing your slick opening, "Is that what you're after?" he breathed, inching into your wetness despite how hard you tried squirmed away,
"Fuck!—
"You want me to hate you just as much as you hate me?" Mako growled,
"Shit, I!—
"Or are you gonna be good?" he seethed while he pounded into you,
"F-Fuck...Off!" you squealed, fighting through the pleasure of Mako stretching you open,
"You don't mean that. You like it when I put you in your place. It's the only way you know how to shut up and listen to me," Mako smirked slyly,
"Mmph. That's not—ahh true!"
"Oh, it isn't?" Mako grinned, pressing his thumb up against your ass,
"I take it back!" you gasped, sighing in relief when Mako pulled his thumb away and slowed his thrusts,
"I thought so," Mako chuckled, watching himself enter you over and over again, "But you were still being a brat earlier so," he seethed before slipping his thumb in any way,
"M-Mako! You promised!—
"See that's where your wrong princess," he breathed once he sank even deeper, your walls still wildly pulsing around him, "The only thing I promised was to keep you alive, but that never meant your smart mouth was free of consequences," he reminded you sharply while you writhed and throbbed beneath him, "Now, do you trust me to keep you alive?"
"Mako, I–
"That's a yes or no question," he snapped, forcing you to take all of him,
"Yes!" you cried out, "Yes, I... Mako, I-I trust you,"
"You gonna stop yelling at me?" he asked with every hard thrust,
"I wasn't yelling!–
"Again, that's a yes or no question!" Mako growled as he rammed even harder,
"Ahh! Fine, Yes! Yes! I'll..I-I'll quit yelling," you panted in defeat, your knees trembling from his roughness,
"Hmph. I knew you'd stop fighting me eventually,"

[Republic City Prison]

"A prisoner? Gone!?" Varrick shouted in exasperation as he paced back and forth, "What kind of operation are we running down here?"
"Mr. Blackstone sir," Warden Feng interrupted,
"Uh-Uh, that's just what I sign for my business deals. The name's Varrick,"
"Well, uhh Mr. Varrick sir. We did send in for a few detectives–
"That's not good enough. They're not criminals. How would they even know where to begin looking?" Varrick pointed out while he shooed the warden out of his own chair, "No...we'd need a criminal of our own to track him down. Someone crafty and unorthodox. Someone good with metal for these new cuffs I've invented," he pondered until everyone's hushed gasps cut him off, "Well, don't just stand there," Varrick scoffed, "Who do ya got?"

Maximum Security

"Warden Feng wants to see you," one of the guards called through the small window to a young dark-haired woman lying on a cot in her thoroughly-sealed cell,
"Tell the warden that if he wanted to see me, he would've made the trip down here himself," the woman snapped back without taking her eyes off the ceiling,
"I did come, Kuvira," Warden Feng replied sternly, the defeat in his voice exposing that he had exhausted all other options,
"Hmph. Sounds like I'm getting out," Kuvira smirked as she sat up,
"You...Y-You just may be right about that," he sighed,
