Chapter 46: All This Trouble

(I know I lied about posting more often but I've been going through it💀💀💀. I've hired three more people and that means training three new people ugh. My hot coworker is COMPLETELY dead to me. COMPLETELY. Long story short he constantly tries to gaslight me into thinking I'm the crazy one for being so invested into this connection when HE KISSED ME. And idk if he's aware but I don't go around massaging and kissing all over my other "friends" bodies. It's cool though, I already have a few dates lined up so his dumb, bald, blue-eyed, recessive gene bitch ass can choke on it. I truly truly hope karma is on my side and he gets hit by a city bus. In other news, America is selecting a new president tonight so pray for us lmmmaoooo 😭😭)

[Crystal Catacombs]

Shah woke up alone. Abrupt and out of breath because of a bad feeling he couldn't quite shake, "Fuck!" he panted, clutching his chest to calm his heart rate, "No," he whispered when he realized Kuvira was gone, jumping from the bed in anger, "Where is she!?" he shouted, knowing damn well more than one Dai Li agent was listening,
"Out," one spoke calmly after four agents dropped to the floor from the holes left bended into the ceiling,
"Don't give me that shit! You take me to her," Shah ordered,
"We're under direct orders to keep you here,"
"Look. She's going to spare him and he'll never stop tracking her. At least with me there, he can go home with something,"
"Your plan...is to use yourself as a collateral?"
"Rohai isn't going to kill him," Shah hissed, "And she's never going to kill again. And if nobody's killing him the least I can do is make sure he stays far the hell away from here,"

The agent sat on Shah's words for what felt like an eternity. They were under orders, yes, but getting rid of Tenzin was far better for the Dai Li as a whole,

"Hmph. Fine. Follow us," the agent eventually bowed,
"Not without my guns," Shah snapped,
"As you wish,"

[16th Precinct | Downtown, Republic City]

"Mako? It's almost 4:00 am. What are you doing here?" The overnight receptionist asked when he marched through the front door,
"Couldn't sleep. Needed to check something. Is Hinning in? I need to look over some security footage,"
"He went out for coffee, but his office is open. Knock yourself out,"
"Thanks Ava," Mako nodded before making his way down the long hallway and slipping into Hinning's office, "Okay," he breathed when he plopped into the large leather chair and examined all the monitors, "Underpass, Exit 43, 43, 43," he repeated until he found the right monitor, "Bingo. Okay, I found her around 11:00 pm, so if I just fast forward here," he whispered, watching the monitor closely until he spotted that familiar black Cadillac and Viper shoving you out of the car into the street, yelling something at you before he sped away, "Fuck," Mako breathed as he sat back in defeat, "He...He let her go,"

[Lake Laogai] - dawn

"Why go through all this trouble to track me!?" Kuvira questioned Tenzin sharply, "You had to know you were being followed the second you found out who took me,"
"I was well aware," Tenzin spoke calmly, "But at the end of the day, I'm responsible for you," he reminded her sternly, "And I told you what would happen if you stepped out of line,"
"I didn't step! I was captured!" Kuvira corrected him, "And for your information, I kept Mako's precious little girlfriend safe even after some lunatic on a shirshu flung me into a brick wall. How in the hell can you not trust me by now?"
"I trusted you to keep her safe," Tenzin huffed, clenching his fist tight when a hoard of Dai Li agents stood behind Kuvira, patiently waiting her command, "Hmph. However, I don't trust you now,"

[Crystal Catacombs]

"Quickly. The airbender has been there since dawn," the Dai Li agent ordered Shah when they stopped by Rohai's office and retrieved his guns from the locked drawer,
"Hmph. You defy orders often?" Shah smirked while he watched the man pull a metal box from the drawer which could only be unlocked by his bending,
"To protect our strongest recruit? I'll take the consequence any day,"
"Hmph. Does that by chance have anything to do with Avatar Kyoshi?"
"It has everything to do with her," the agent bowed, handing Shah his confiscated guns, "Here,"
"What'd you do to these?" Shah asked, inspecting the guns carefully,
"Upgraded them," the agent grinned, "You're surrounded by over a thousand metalbenders. We don't see guns often,"
"Hmph. I like you," Shah chuckled, "You got a name? Or did you all give them up when you joined this...cult?"
"The Dai Li thrives on anonymity," the agent nodded, "That being said, you can call me 93,"
"Hm. Short. Sweet. To the point," Shah chuckled as he loaded his gun, "Alright boys, let's go cripple an airbender,"
