(I admit it. I was glued to my computer alllll February but, I was not writing guys. My job is driving me up a fucking wall, I'm completely done with my hot coworker, even though we spent Valentine's Day together and possiblyyy kissed once or twice, but overall–he's dead to me. In other news, I am moving!! Well, starting to move. I am touring my top two choices this weekend, so from now until the distant future I will put all my energy into decorating my new apartment and hopefully writing if I don't end up choking someone at my job)
P.S. I did throw in a longer chapter to make up for being MIA🤧🖤 ilysm

[Republic City Plaza]
"The Plaza?" you asked softly when Shin put his car in park and handed you a hotel key card,
"Yeah. He wanted the Penthouse for you to freshen up before dinner,"
"Dinner?" you questioned,
"Kwong's. 8:00 pm. I'm supposed to take you there after you're done," Shin sighed as he unbuckled his seatbelt,
"Wait," you breathed, catching Shin's arm before he got out of the car, "Why is Viper doing this?"
"Why don't you ask him?"
"I don't want to ask him. I'm asking you,"
"And I don't know how else to tell you," Shin scoffed after circling his car and holding the door open for you, "So the man is still in love with you, so what?"
"So what!? What about the fact that I'm not in love with him!?"
"It didn't occur to me,"
"Didn't occur to you!?"
"Okay! It crossed my mind, but it's you guys. You two always do this," Shin scoffed while you followed him inside to the elevator,
"Do what?"
"Fight. Break up. Act like you're completely done. Then F each other's brains out and make up again. I think you forget about who exactly was driving him to all your little late-night rendezvous,"
"It's different this time" you snapped back at him,
"Why? Because of Mako?"
"Exactly!"
"You just met him! Yet you've known Viper for six years and had him wrapped around your little finger for four,"
"And as of last year, I was done with him. For good," you hissed angrily,
You meant it. With every ounce of your being, you wanted to erase the very day you met Viper, but Shin still wasn't convinced,
"Yeah. We'll see," he sighed deeply before unlocking the door to your room,
You had expected your suite to be normal–yet as fancy as a penthouse could be, but Viper had pulled in some extra favors and had it decorated with bouquets of roses. One on every countertop, table, and bookshelf,
"H-How...How many are there?" you gulped as you walked in and took a look around,
"A little over 1400," Shin breathed before he plopped on the couch, "So, about 120 dozen bouquets,"
"120!? Why that fucking many!?"
"Well...when Viper placed the order he told the florist that he wanted a rose for each day you were together. That's about four years give or take, given how many times you two would break up and get back together–so basically he bought out an entire shop,"
"Does...Does he really think this will work?"
"I'm not here to question what he thinks. I'm here to get you to the restaurant and to make sure you don't run off again," Shin chuckled after cracking open one of the heart-shaped boxes of chocolates and helping himself to a handful, "Oh, I just remembered. Here," he nodded, handing you a red gift bag that was left on the table,
"What is this?"
"You'd know if you just hush and open it,"
"Ugh. Fine," you huffed, "First the ring and this damn hotel with every rose in town, and now...a...a-a dress?" you questioned when you pulled it out of the bag,
"To wear to dinner," Shin winked,
"Ugh. Absolutely not. I'm not going–
"Hold it there princess," Shin snapped as he caught your wrist in his grip and stood to his feet, "Now, I know you're in a bad mood, but I'm going to need you to realize that you don't exactly have a say in this. So, roll your eyes at me all you want. You're still going to take your pretty little behind into that bathroom and get dressed," he hissed, shoving you toward the hallway, "Got it?"
"Hmph. Whatever,"
[Airship]
"We land in about an hour. Now, when we do it'll be a little past 9:00 pm, where exactly are we headed then?" Jay asked Mako cautiously,
"I'm thinking–
"Still?"
"Yes. Still!" Mako snapped, "I don't spend every waking minute of my life breaking the law, so it's a little difficult to get into the mind of a criminal,"
"Okay. Fair enough," Jay huffed before he switched to autopilot again and joined Mako at the large steel table, "You said before that you know Viper isn't going to leave her side,"
"Right," Mako sighed angrily, his knee bouncing with rage and anxiety,
"Alright. But do you think Shin will?"
"E-Eventually. I guess,"
"Okay. Then we have a lead. If Viper plans to win her back. Then, I'm assuming he'd prefer to do that in private–
"Don't remind me," Mako ordered, pounding his fist so hard into the table that Jay was sure it left a dent,
"I'm not theorizing any of this to piss you off. Believe it or not, I'm trying to help you find her," Jay scolded him sharply, "Shin took her somewhere. So, if we find him. We can make him tell us,"
"The Docks!" Mako breathed with joy, "H-He lives nearby,"
"Where exactly?"
"Fuck. I-I haven't been there in like eight years, but–I-I'll know it when I see it. There's a missing brick by one of the windows from when Viper had me crush someone's fingers with it,"
"Good god," Jay said in disgust, "And you're sure you're having trouble thinking like a criminal?"
"Don't start with me," Mako warned him, "If you're here to question anything, maybe you can answer why you're so sure Shin would go home. The most obvious of all places,"
"Well...he did just spend the last six or seven hours on the back of a Shirshu with your girlfriend as a prisoner. A-And she's not exactly the come quietly kind of type,"
"Hmph, I bet she let him have a piece of her mind the whole way there," Mako chuckled,
"Oh I have no doubt, but also, you don't think that after a trip like that, Shin wouldn't want to get a hot shower? Maybe a change of clothes?"
"You're right," Mako beamed, "He has to be there,"
"Great. To the Docks we go –
"And if he doesn't tell me where she is I'm going to break every bone in his body," Mako added,
"Woah...come again?" Jay questioned,
"You heard me,"
"I did...but a-are we really resorting to putting that man in the hospital?"
"Trust me," Mako huffed angrily, "I should've started doing that a long time ago,"

"Don't touch me!" Kuvira shouted at Shah, snatching her wrist from his grip, "Don't ever touch me,"
"Oh, I'm sorry," Shah scoffed, "Not like you weren't about to sucker-punch me a few minutes ago,"
"All because I told you to stop talking!–
"Well..." a cloaked man sneered from their cell entrance with four men behind him, "I didn't believe my lieutenant when he told me he caught you, but you really are here. Kuvira, the Great Uniter,"
"It's Kuvira of Zaofu," she corrected the man sharply,
"Apologies. I thought for sure you dropped that title after reducing Zaofu to a pile of ash and rubble,"
"That's still my home. Standing or not,"
"Good to know. In the interest of learning names, you may call me, Captain Rohai," he grinned evilly,
"Oh yeah? And what exactly are you captain of?"
"Hmph. Every part of this Ring you've ever stepped foot in,"

"Now, look how pretty you are when you put on a dress and lose the attitude," Shin teased when you finally came out of the bathroom,
"Ugh. I can't wait till Mako beats you senseless," you scoffed back at him,
"Hmph. He's not going to find me. Or you either. Now, let's go,"
You were quiet the entire ride down the elevator, even more pissed when Shin held the car door open for you and buckled you in,
"Could you at least try to look excited?" he huffed in annoyance, "Feed into the man's fantasy a bit?"
"No," you answered flatly,
"God. Can't you go along with anything?" he asked after plopping down in the driver's seat, "I-I mean you are about to go on a date. I thought girls love those things,"
"They do when they aren't going against their will,"
"Ahh. Don't look at it like that," Shin chuckled when he sped through a yellow light,
"How else am I supposed to see it!? You kidnapped me from Ba Sing Se! Stalked me all the way from my home!"
"I-I was not–stalking! A-And you knew better than anybody what was going to happen if you ran. Viper warned you,"
"He also held a knife to my neck. But yeah. I guess I just forgot how much of a little errand boy you are for him–
"Watch it," Shin said calmly, "This, believe it or not, happens to be my job. You're just the first person I haven't brought to him covered in blood or bruises," he teased before pulling up to the restaurant, putting the car in park, and slipping into the somewhat chilly night,
"You're coming inside?" you asked, already more than irritated with how crowded downtown was,
"What? Sick of me already?" Shin smirked,
"Ugh. I've been sick of the both of you since the day we met," you snapped after slamming your door shut,
"The feeling is becoming mutual. But, like it or not princess, my shift ends when I deliver you to him at the table,"
[Airship]
"Fuck. I just remembered my squad car is at the Ferry," Mako hissed quietly to himself,
"So? We'll catch one when we land. It only takes about twenty minutes," Jay reassured him, "That wasn't my concern," Mako sighed deeply, "It's no secret that the Docks are Triple Threat Territory. Going in there? With a very obvious police car?"
"Shit. You're right. We'll be sitting ducks," Jay breathed, "What do you suggest we do now?"
"Hmm. We get an unmarked from the station. Black. And cut the lights when we get to Shin's neighborhood. I plan on making this quick,"
"Copy that," Jay nodded,

"Okay. Captain of Everything," Kuvira hissed sarcastically, "Since you appear to be pretty high up in your shitty ranks, maybe you can tell me exactly why I'm here, and more importantly, why you locked me up with this rambling idiot,"
"Hmph. To your luck, I can answer both of those questions. But first, care to take a walk?" Rohai grinned, after ordering his men to unlock your cell with just a simple nod,
Kuvira didn't trust him. Not a single man she was standing in that room with, yet she found herself backing into Shah for protection,
"C'mon, I don't bite," Rohai smiled, "But it looks like you could use one. Maybe a shower and some... medical attention. I can have my chefs prepare a spread while you freshen up,"
All of those things sounded like heaven to Kuvira. And if Rohai was truly a threat, he would've done his worst the minute he walked in here.
"Fine," Kuvira nodded,
"Wonderful," Rohai grinned before his smile faded just as quickly as he had drawn it, "The idiot stays," he ordered,
"What!?" Shah snapped when his cell door locked once more, "Kuvira, I-I know you're mad, but y-you can't–leave me here," he pleaded,
"And why can't she?" Rohai questioned curiously,
"Yeah. Why not?" Kuvira asked with a smug grin,
"Because...well...umm...s-she didn't want you guys to know this–but..." Shah babbled, trying to find the perfect excuse until he blurted out the best thing he could think of, "I'm...I'm kinda...her boyfriend," he sighed with a sly smirk,
"What!?" Kuvira breathed,
"You?" Rohai questioned before one of his men whispered in his ear, "My cadet here tells me that before you were captured you two were attempting to kill each other,"
"A simple lover's quarrel," Shah fibbed, "We always do this. She likes things quiet. I like to talk. It's one of the many things we fight over,"
"If you're lying to me I'll have you brainwashed and dropped into the Si Wong Desert," Rohai threatened, "The only two things you'll be able to remember is my face and a swarm of buzzard wasps picking your corpse clean,"
"He's...He's not lying," Kuvira eventually sighed in defeat, thinking back to what Shah had told her earlier:
We got thrown in here together. So I shouldn't have to tell you, that until we get out it will be us against them.
"So...you two are a couple?" Rohai questioned skeptically until another cadet whispered in his ear, "My other cadet says that you seemed more in some sort of love triangle with that cop they let go,"
"Mako!?" Kuvira and Shah scoffed in unison,
"Ugh. Trust me. Nothing is going on with me and that uniformed cinder block,"
"Yeah. Plus he's got a stick so far up his ass that I'm surprised he's not puking acorns," Shah added, Besides, he's dating my sister," he admitted sourly,
"Nobody asked!" Kuvira snapped softly at Shah, "Captain...Rohai...sir," she bowed slightly to show respect, "I...I-I can't leave without him,"
"Hmm," Rohai thought quietly to himself, more or less convinced by Shah and Kuvira's lie,
"Very well. The idiot may join,"
[Kwong's] - 8:00 pm
"And would you look at that," Shin smirked as he checked his watch and held the restaurant door open for you, "We're right on time,"
"If Mako doesn't kill you. After this, I certainly will," you threatened beneath your breath,
"Sticks and stones princess," Shin breathed while he escorted you to Viper's private booth, the one far off in the fanciest corner of the entire establishment. The only table that came with a balcony view of the entire city,
"Kitten," Viper called with a warm smile after he dropped his menu, stood to his feet, and wrapped his arm around your waist, "You made it,"
"I told you to stop calling me that," you hissed quietly when he buried his face into your neck, his lips inches from your ear,
"Behave tonight," Viper ordered as he pulled you closer, "Or we'll have to go back to finishing our little conversation," he whispered with his switchblade tucked beneath his fist before taking your hand and twirling you gently, "Shin, I'm impressed. No cuts. No bruises. She looks flawless,"
"It wasn't easy, but she's worth every penny," Shin winked at you,
"Which you'll see the other half tomorrow," Viper smirked after handing Shin a dark briefcase, "You may go,"
"Hmph. Copy that Boss. Later princess," Shin waved, leaving you in the arms of the one man you'd been avoiding for two years,
