Ugh. I know this chapter took way longer than usual but you guys try managing these bobbleheads while writing two 30+ chapter fanfics at the same time 😭 I honestly never know how they're going to turn out. But in other news, my obsessive crush on my hot coworker has completely died. It's just when he goes out of his way for me I'm like 👀 hmmm. but that's the old me. It's a new month. We're halfway through the year and I'm going to make the next six months count for something. So here's to me getting my life together and going back to school!

P.S. my ex is in Massachusetts right now and wants me to take a trip up there with him in the near future. I should go, right?

Mako's squad car

You were stuck in traffic. Locked at a standstill and forced to listen to Jay's incessant humming over the soft radio. It was hotter than usual, even though it was early into the night, and the lack of a cool breeze made sitting still completely unbearable. Had the car moved more than a quarter inch since you left the highway you'd be less on edge, but saying goodbye to Mako for the second time in three days made you anxious beyond repair,

"God how long have we been sitting here!?" you shouted before honking on the horn loudly, "Move it!"
"It's only been twenty minutes," Jay gasped in fright, "I don't know if you've been paying attention to the radio, but there's a water main break on 20th Street,"
"Ugh. Of course. Why did you even go this way?"
"Why? Maybe because your very scary when he's angry boyfriend, ordered me to take you to get your meds,"
"I already told you I don't need them–
"And I told you I'd rather listen to you complain about not needing them than have Mako put me in a headlock later," Jay scoffed, "Honestly, I don't know what the big deal is. It's one little pill and you'd be a lot less fidgety than you are now,"
"I am not fidgety," you corrected him sharply, "I'm just–worried is all,"
"Worried, fidgety, restless. All indicators of chronic unmedicated anxiety," Jay sighed, "Besides, I don't know what you're so worried about. It's just an interrogation, he's done hundreds and will be home before you know it,"
"Ugh. That's not what I'm worried about,"
"It's not? Then what are y–
"Ahh. Finally! We're moving," you breathed in relief when the line of cars in front of you pulled ahead, "Take the alley so we don't get stuck behind these idiots again,"
"Yeah. Yeah. I'm turning, I'm turning,"

[Republic City Hopsital] - Main Entrance

"Uhh. S-Should we get going?" Siros asked Mako who had been standing there speechless since Jay had driven away, his ears still hung on the quiet I love you that had left your lips,
"Huh? Oh–R-Right. The cab," Mako breathed, "I-I should probably call one,"
"Or, we could skip the interrogation setting and just head to that bar over there," Siros chuckled lightly,
"What? No, we–
"Look. I'll tell you everything I know about my uncle," Siros sighed with a grin, "Although I'm related to him he's not exactly my favorite person in the universe,"
"Still–
"Okay. How about, first drink on me," Siros smirked, "I sort of feel like we got off on the wrong foot here, so in an effort to make amends, here's my offer. And who knows...maybe after five or six beers I'll spill all my family secrets. Aunts included," he nodded proudly,
"Five or six?" Mako laughed,
"Trust me. When you've had the shift I've had five or six is just to catch a buzz,"

Kuvira woke up alone. Or so she thought until she noticed the two Dai Li agents standing at the foot of the bed watching her sleep,
"Where is he?" she snapped at the both of them,
"Please follow us," one bowed,
"Not until you tell me where he is," she hissed,
"This way," the other nodded,

[Downtown, Republic City] - 25th street pharmacy

"Okay. This should take no longer than ten minutes," Jay rambled, "So while we're waiting I'm going to grab a snack–umm. Excuse me?" he scoffed when he noticed you were still sitting in the car, "A-Are you not coming inside?"
"I told you I don't need them. So there's no reason for me to come in the store with you," you huffed back at him,
"Seriously?" Jay questioned in disbelief
"Dead serious,"
"Oh my god, I don't know how Mako does this every day," Jay groaned to himself, "Look. I'm not allowed to let you out of my sight. And since you have a habit of being kidnapped every four minutes, you have no choice but to come with me,"
"No,"
"Ugh. No!?"
"You heard me,"
"Oh, you're coming with me," Jay scoffed before marching around the car and plopping back down in the driver's seat,
"What are you doing?"
"Getting you out of the car," Jay snapped frustratedly before turning the key and rolling up the windows,
"You're turning on the heat!?" you questioned when Jay turned the nob quickly,
"To the max,"
"It's 82 degrees outside!"
"I'm aware and by the time I get back, it'll be 116 in this car. So, do you want to cooperate or do you want to sweat from heat exhaustion?"
"Ugh. Fine!"
