1979 ( a year later)

"Ruby, get up!" Ruby groaned in the sleep as she used the pillow and kept it above her head.

"Get. Up!" She heard her brother's voice as Ruby finally got up from the bed with her messy hair.

It has been a year since she quit school. A year since her mother had talked to her. A year since her life turned upside down. And a year since her brother and his friends graduated.

"We're late for the training." Ruby nodded her head mindlessly as she made her way to the bathroom as she got dressed up in a tee shirt and jeans.

The siblings had their breakfast as they apparated to their training area. As soon as they arrived, the marauders and others greeted them.

"Ruby," she heard Eleanor 's voice as Ruby looked aside to see her friend walking towards her with a warming smile.

"How are you doing now?"

"Not bad, El" Ruby answered as Eleanor pulled the girl into a hug.

"Moony, say your girl not to touch mine." Ruby's lips curved up at his voice as she pulled away from the hug and looked at Sirius, who was having a serious conversation with her brother.

"Such a drama queen," Eleanor commented with an eye roll as Ruby nodded her head with a teasing smile.

"Totally."

Sirius approached her as Eleanor bid her farewell and stood beside Remus.

"Hey, love," Sirius said as he pecked her lips, to which she closed her eyes and savored it.

"Has anything improved between you and your mom?" Ruby heaved a sigh as she shook her head. Sirius caressed her cheeks as he kissed her forehead.

"It's fine, love,"

"Actually, I'm not that hurt by it, Sirius.. since she's not on good terms with me, she's safe for now, " Ruby said as she looked away. But in all honesty, she missed her mom and their funny conversations.

"Don't lie, Ruba," Sirius denied as Ruby chuckled.

But soon that smile faded when her eyes laid on Dumbledore, who was making his way towards them. Sirius noticed her behavior as he pulled her a bit closer by wrapping his arm around her waist in a protective manner.

"Greetings to you all!" He said as the people smiled and greeted him back.

Ruby was sure about two things.
1. To kill Voldemort by her hands
2. Never smile at Dumbledore.

"Let's start our training!"

Once the training session got over, Ruby and Sirius were sitting under a tree as they started gazed together. That cold breeze, that warm hug, Ruby never wanted this to be taken away from her.

"Have you applied for any job, love?" Ruby asked as she looked at the night sky. Sirius hummed as he looked down to see Ruby trying her best to not close her eyes.

Sirius chuckled.

"I'll drop you if you feel sleepy," Sirius said as he tried to get up, but Ruby pulled him by his shirt as she hugged his warm body and snuggled closer.

"Let's just stay here... I don't wanna go home. " Sirius stared at her face as Ruby too looked at him with drowsy eyes. If it wasn't for the sleep, he would have made out with her.

Sirius smiled as he kissed her forehead and hugged her back.

"Then sleep," he said as he too closed his eyes. " I'm here,"

"Sirius..." Ruby trailed on as he hummed in response.

"I love you," she said tiredly as Sirius smiled softly before pecking her lips.

"Please don't make it hard for me, love," he whispered as Ruby once again looked at him, but this time, there was no drowsiness.

"What?" She whispered back.

Sirius tugged a strand of her hair as he cupped her cheeks in that process.

"Nothing, love.. just sleep. "

And she did sleep.

Ruby was crying.

Not because she was happy.

She was broken.

She held the boy's little shirt in her hands and sobbed. The boy was around 1 year and he was missing. Or, dead.

"Tom! " She heard her brother sobbing, along with Sirius. Ruby's hands were trembling as she held the shirt close to her chest.

"Where's El? Is she safe?" Remus asked Peter as the trio waited for his reply.

"Moony she--"

"Ruba! Get up!" Ruby woke up from sleep as she looked at Sirius with panicked eyes.

"El? Where's El?" She asked with a tear stained cheek.

"She's with Moony... What happened, Ruba? any vision?" Ruby nodded her head as she wiped her tears and hugged Sirius.

"I want to sleep, Sirius."

Sirius pulled her into a hug as he kissed her hair. He was worried about her.

He wanted his Ruba to smile and laugh just like she does in Hogwarts.

He wanted his old Ruba.
