𝑙𝑜𝑣𝑒 𝑎𝑛𝑑 𝑡𝑟𝑢𝑠𝑡

After the training, Ruby was having a peaceful sleep, only to get disturbed by her brother.

"Ruby!"

"What...?" Ruby muttered as he hugged the pillow.

"I want to marry El," she jolted up from her bed as she looked at Remus with wide eyes.

"Remy? Why so sudden? I mean, what's wrong with you?" Ruby asked as she rubbed her eyes.

"I-- well, what if we die tomorrow?"

"Re--"

"Listen, Ruby. I just want to be with her, and I'm scared that I might lose her. I love her, Ruby. I really do, and I can't imagine my life without her, " Remus said, fiddling with his shirt.

"Remy, I know that you love her, and I know that she too loves you back. But, you guys are young for this-- this marriage!" Ruby justified as Remus shook his head.

"We don't know what will happen tomorrow, Ruby. It can be our last day and I want to spend the last day with the love of my life and I don't wanna die in regret of not marrying her" Remus said as he stared at his sister who was processing this whole thing.

"What will you do, Ruby? What will you do if you find out tomorrow is gonna be the last day?" That question made her breath hitched as Ruby gulped. She wasn't ready for this whole marriage stuff. Like, not at all.

"I--" Ruby hesitated as she looked down." It's not something that we should decide in a rush, Remy," she said as she got off from the bed as she started to clean it up.

"I've been thinking about it for the past month, and I'm damn sure about my decision," Remus said sternly as his vision was blurred with tears. "I--" he let out a breathy sigh as he rubbed his eyes.

"I want her, Ruby. I love her, I love her and I--"

"Remy," she interrupted him as Remus looked at her with sad eyes.

"You needn't ask permission from me," she said as she approached him. " If that's what you want, discuss this with mom and dad, and then propose to El,"

"But, what if she -"

"She wouldn't miss a gem like you, Remy," Ruby said with a soft smile as she hugged her brother, who hugged her back.

"Thank you, Ruby... Thank you. " she slapped the back of his head as Remus chuckled.

The following day, Remus went shopping the ring with Lyall as Ruby was left alone in the home with Hope.

"Lunch is ready." Ruby knocked on the door as she informed her mom. Hope hummed in reply as Ruby sighed and went back to the dining hall.

Hope's room door opened as she walked towards the table and sat on the chair without looking at Ruby.

The duo ate in silence. Ruby hated it. Ruby just wanted to ask for forgiveness and just cry out.

"Why didn't you tell us?" Hope asked with teary eyes as Ruby looked down.

"Don't you trust us, dear," Lyall said as Ruby opened her mouth to talk, but none came out except for sobs.

"You've been through these many things, and you never bothered to let us know about it! Are we dead to you?!" Hope shouted as Ruby sobbed even harder.

"Hope, it's fine... Maybe she was scared -"

"Speak, Ruby! Are we dead to you?! Did you ever consider us as your parents?! "

"Mom, I -" she stuttered as she wiped the tears. Hope was devastated in finding her daughter's secret.

"Mom, I didn't want to put you guys in danger," Ruby spoke as she looked at her parents. Lyall smiled sadly as he pulled his daughter in a hug.

"Honey... It should be us the ones to protect you. Not the other way, " Lyall said softly.

"Mom ..." Ruby started as she looked at Hope, who gave her cold gaze.

"No, if that's what you want, then don't talk to me,"

"Stop being dramatic, honey," Lyall defended, but Hope just shook her head in denial.

"Mom, no -"

"It's fine, Ruby. You can mind your business, and I'll mind my own, " Hope said as she wiped her tears and went inside her room. Ruby broke down into tears as Lyall comforted his daughter. That was all he could do.

Angry Hope is dangerous.

"Thanks for the lunch," Hope said as she entered her room without sparing Ruby a glance. Ruby clenched her fist as a drop of tears fell on it.

She missed her mom.

And Hope missed her daughter, too.

Each and every day.
