As soon as she entered her room, Ruby was assigned to do two things.

Write to Eleanor

Open his gift.

Ruby took out a neat parchment paper and dipped her quill in the ink before starting.

Dear El

I'm glad that you're doing fine and of course I will be worried about you! I've conveyed your gratitude to Remus as well. He said he was pleasured to help you at your worst.

Ruby chuckled at her words.

And there's nothing going on between I and Sirius. Well, something did happen, but I'll say you once we get back to Hogwarts. I hope your uncle and aunt are treating you right.

Once she completed, she kept her quill aside and folded the letter neatly before tying it at her brother's owl as she got a frog as her pet, but it didn't survive.

"Go on!" She said as she saw the owl flying away.

And now the next thing is to open his gift. Her heart was racing faster at the thought of his gift. She took out the small box and kept it above the table. She analysed it from different directions as she wondered what it could it.

Finally, Ruby decided to open the small box to see a pair of anklets. Her eyes sparkled with awe as she gasped. A small smile was plastered in her lips as she took out the anklets from the box and wrapped it around her leg.

It was looking beautiful.

The gift was heartwarming.

She took out her quill at the thought of writing to Sirius to thank him.

Dear Sirius

I just saw your gift. It's lovely. I didn't know you could be this creative with females. I'm sorry. I don't have anything to present to you. I don't know what else to write, honestly. All I can say is, thank you so much for your gift.

P. S. Ruba is also fine I guess. But don't address me in that name often, it will annoy me.

Ruby kept the quill aside as she folded the letter neatly and placed it above the table. Since Remus's owl was already sent to Eleanor 's.

"Ruby? Could you go and just say Remus to get out of the bathroom?! He's been there for hours!" Lyall exclaimed dramatically as Ruby chuckled and walked out of her room to help her dad.

Ruby and Remus were helping Hope in baking some cookies. Mostly, it was Ruby and Hope. Remus kept on messing up as Hope got pissed off as she said her son to just sit aside.

So, Remus sat on the kitchen counter with crossed arms, and Ruby was suppressing her laughter. 

As Ruby was doing different shapes of the cookie, her dad entered with a coffee mug in his hands. He kept the mug in the sink and tried to walk away.

"Lyall," he heard his wife's stern voice as Lyall understood and washed it immediately.  Once the mug was clean, he kept it on the shelf and went to the hall as Hope nodded her head with a small smile.

"Poor man," Remus chimed in with a sigh as Hope threw a glare at him. He immediately held his hand up in the air and looked at his mom with an innocent smile.

"You better be," Hope said as Ruby just laughed at how her brother was behaving.

"Do you always wear this anklets?" Remus asked out of nowhere. Ruby froze at his question as she let out a nervous chuckle.

"Uh- yeah. I'm mean, no" Ruby stuttered as Remus eyed her suspiciously. " I got it as a gift from Eleanor. these anklets were also attached with the letter" she lied to her brother, who nodded his head. Ruby heaved a sigh as she concentrated on baking the cookies. 

After baking together, Ruby decided to take a shower as her whole body was covered with the flour. Once she entered the bathroom, she stripped herself and turned on the shower as the cold water hit her face. she remembered about the nightmare. It was horrible and she could still feel that James's cold gaze on her. she shivered at the thought as she wrapped hands around herself. she felt so insecure.

she averted her gaze to the floor as her eyes locked with the anklets. Her lips twitched up into an automatic smile as all her worries vanished in a second. 

She walked out of the bathroom and got dressed up for the night. suddenly She remembered about the letter as she wrapped the letter around Goldie's leg and caressed his wing. 

"I'm sorry for bothering you. please deliver this to Sirius Black" she whispered and kissed the feather as the owl flew away. 

Ruby walked to her bed and laid on it as she pulled the blankets above her. and so, she slept. but this time, a tiny smile was present on her lips.
