Ruby was listening to Slughorn's lecture with a displeased look. she really disliked him and his classes, but she got no other choice except for listening to the class. and her mind wasn't straight. she was in dilemma of whether accepting or rejecting Sirius's proposal.

yeah, she can say that she did had a crush on Sirius during first year, but it was just a stupid crush and she just moved on. but now, everything is messed up.

"so my dear students, the class is dismissed!" Slughorn said as the students started to walk out including Ruby. she clutched her notebooks to her chest and walked aimlessly to the great hall. but that walk got interrupted by her bumping into someone.

the books she held, fell on the ground as she crouched to get it, but that person did it before she could.

"here" his deep voice rung in her ear and it was none other than, Sirius Black with his cocky grin. she stood up and got the books from him by muttering a small 'thank you' and walked passed him. Sirius got confused by her behavior as he also walked along with her.

"what's wrong, Ruba?" he asked to which Raveena just looked at him with disbelief.

" you're asking me 'what's wrong?" when you technically know what happened yesterday" she stated by air quoting the sentence. Sirius rubbed the nape of his neck and looked at her.

"look, it's okay. you can reject. it's your opinion and i will accept whatever you say. but please don't ignore me" he said as his eyes flickered over hers.

" i want to reject you! you've been nothing but an annoying jerk to me! i want to reject you so badly" she said honestly by furrowing her eyebrows.

"then say it" Sirius whispered, taking a step closer as she took a step back. the whole corridor was silent. it was only them, just like the previous day.

"but i don't want to" she whispered as she got lost in his eyes.

Sirius held her side arms and looked at her with most soft eyes. sh felt her skin burning because of his touch.

" don't say yes just because you pity me or just because I'm your brother's friend. say yes, if you truly mean it" Sirius said as Ruby nodded her head.

" oh Sirius, I want to say yes, but I'm not ready" she said lowering her head. Sirius just chuckled and released his grip from her side arms and backed away, leaving Ruby confused.

" I'm glad you're honest with me, Ruba"he said and buried his hands in his pocket." what's the next class do you have?" he asked.

" arithmancy" she informed.

"ugh, so boring"

"what is not boring for you?" Ruby asked in a teasing way. Sirius scoffed in response.

" do you wanna ditch the class?" he asked as Ruby looked at him with wide eyes.

"isn't that illegal?"

" what is not illegal for having fun?"he asked with a shrug. " do you want to?" he asked once again, staring at her eyes. she didn't knew why but she couldn't maintain eyecontact with him. his eyes were so capturing and she didn't wanted to get lost in it.

" where are we going?" she asked and pressed her lips together with a smile. Sirius grinned in a goofy manner as he held out his hand for her. she looked at his hand and back to his eyes with a smile before accepting his hand as the duo ran away from everything, studies, magic.... and war.

Sirius and Ruby ran to the kitchen. she loves the kitchen for some reason like, the crackling sound of fire, the cute house elves or the warmth she felt there but the main thing was, the food.

the duo sat down as the room was filled with complete silence. Sirius would sneak some glances of her and get caught eventually which would make the girl to stifle her laughter.

" i was amazed when you did that to the Jonz guy" Sirius started off as he looked aside to meet her eyes already looking at him.

" got the idea from a wise person" Ruby said with a smirk as Sirius nodded his head knowingly. he ran a hand through his silky hair and let out a chuckle.

" I'll take that as a compliment" Sirius said.

" when is your birthday?" he asked because he always wondered about her birthday.

" december 24, it's before christmas. most of the time i would spend with mom, dad and Remus" she said with sparkly eye. " mom would stitch me a blanket or a sweater and as for dad, we both would bake some cookies together along with Remy. you know something? most of the time he would just curse at me to which he would get scoldings from dad. he's kind of bad in baking that's why and-" her words got cut off as she turned at him, who was having a soft smile on his lips.

" why are you looking at me like that?" she asked, playing with her sleeves.

" i asked you one question and your answer is just" he paused. " mind blowing" Sirius said in an amusing way.

" Sorry for talking too much" she apologized feeling her cheeks getting warm.

" why sorry? it's actually cute how you talk about your family" Sirius said with sad eyes. Ruby knew that Sirius had a rough childhood but she doesn't know everything about it and now that she reminded it to him, she felt guilty.

"I-I I am sorry, i didn-"

"stop asking sorry" her words got cut off by Sirius. " it's not your fault, darling" and now, she felt like it was her fault.

"I-"

" Ruby!" the duo flinched at the sound as Ruby moved a little away from Sirius.

"Prongs?" Sirius asked out in confusion.

" Ruby, something has happened! Eleanor needs you" James said with a frown which made Ruby to immediately walk towards him with fear.

"what happened, Prongs?" Sirius too asked with confusion.

" the death eaters attacked the muggles and many were killed" James paused on his sentence and Ruby didn't wanted him to continue.

" including her parents"

I'm planning to post as many chapters as possible bcs I don't know whether I'll be able to post in future due to my exams and stuff.
