Phiwokuhle's POV
We wait for the teacher to collect all the papers once his done he tells us to wait he wants to give us a speech. All I want to do is get out of here. Today we were writing our last paper for term 2 and we shall see in a couple of days time if we passed or not. I know I did good though for most of my subjects but I have my fingers crossed and I'm hoping for the best.
"This is your final paper for the term and I'm sure you guys are relieved that you are taking a break. I just want you to use these holidays as a reflection and rest as much as you can because once schools open for term 3 time to play will be over. You would be preparing for your prelims and i need you to focus and not let anything distract you. You've come too far to give up now. Let's clap hands for ourselves for never giving up even though we wanted to so many times." he says.
There is a round of applause around the classroom and i can't help but smile. We did it, I did it and i didn't let the distractions get to me. I'm so proud of myself for never giving up even though i wanted to numerous times. "You are free to go. Enjoy your holidays and stay safe." "You too sir." We say simultaneously. We stand up and take our bags and leave.
I enterwine my hand with Ayesha's and we walk to the vending machine. "We finally finished." she says. "Two terms down two more to go." I say. "I can't wait for this year to be over." "I couldn't agree with you more." "Uright?" "I'm good. I can't wait for the lunch date at Pedros." "Me too. We can finally have a break. Kunini sifunda I'm surprised I haven't exploded yet." I laugh. (We've been learning.) "You so dramatic babe." She chuckles.
We get to the vending machine and she buys some snacks for the both of us and we walk to the bench and meet up with Kwenzo and the squad. "Sesiqedile ukubhala!" shouts Kagiso (blue crane). (We are finished writing.) "Zaka zaka zaka zaka zaka zaka zaka zaka haibo yebo!" I shout and we laugh. "We made it guys. Did you think we would have survived?" "I knew I would. I trust myself to never disappoint." "Okay Ms. Confident." "This is she." We laugh.
"I just want us to celebrate that we made it and i also wanna say Phiwo you are one of the strongest person's i know. The fact that you got through this term despite your family situation inspires me to never give up." says Kheto. "Ncoo thank you so much. I would like to thank you for the support you have shown me through these tough times. It's true when they say tough times never last only strong people do." I say.
"Group hug!" shouts Tristan and we chuckle. We pull each other for a hug and we stay like that for a while before we pull away. "Lets go have some fun with Phiwo's acquaintances." says Khulekani and we laugh. "Asambeni." We start walking together as a group. We walk to where i usually take the taxis and i hail one and it takes us to Daveyton Mall.
"I love Daveyton." says Khulekani. "Its a vibe but the crime shem yona is there." I say. "Ayikho indawo enganayo ubughebengu." I nod. (There is no place where there is no crime.) "That's true." I shout after robot and it stops and we go inside the mall and go to Pedros. I love Pedros food and the fact that it's affordable just adds to the cherry on top.
We get inside the restuarant and ask for a table to accommodate us all and we head to the back. The windows bring in enough sunlight and makes the place feel warm. We sit down and take the menus and read through them. "So how is everyone?" asks Kheto. "I'm good. Just glad exams are over and now I'll be preparing for the prelims." answers Ayesha.
"Ngisharp. Just tired and happy that everything is over." I answer. "Nami ngiright little one." answers Kagiso (blue crane). "I'm cool." answers Tristan. "I guess I'm also cool wena." says Kwenzo. "I'm good. Grade 11 ain't easy but siyaphusha akufani." says Kheto. (at least we passing.) "Don't worry once you pass 11, 12 will be a bit easier." Kheto nods.
