Phiwokuhle's POV
The bell rings signalling it's break and I'm the first one out of class. I walk to the tuckshop and buy an energade and jelly beans then walk back to the bench we usually chill at together. The first day is going well. All teachers kept on talking about the prelims and all that and at some point i stopped listening because i get it, I'm writing prelims and i need to be serious.
I sit down and take out my lunch box and start eating the Sunday kos. I've never been a fan of having bread and all that for lunch. Back in primary yes it used to be my thing but I guess I've had too much bread to last me an eternity so I've switched to real kos. Plus bread doesn't make me full and i don't want to be the one that finishes the loaf in one day.
Ayesha sits next to me and puts her hand on my thigh. "Uhlezi ungishiya yazi." she says. (You always leave me behind.) "Askies. Once the bell rings I'm out of there. Whoever wants me to wait for them can forget it." I say and she chuckles. (Sorry.) "You good?" "I'm good wena." "Nami ngiright." She kisses my cheek and i giggle. "Ayesha there is a lot of people on the field and they don't need to know you make me blush."
"They must know. They must see that I, Ayesha Mchunu make the bullfighter blush." she says and i laugh. "You boosting your own ego a little too much." I say and she chuckles. "If I don't boost it who will." "Fair point." "Thee love birds." says Khulekani and we laugh. "No need to make noise though." He chuckles.
The others come and we greet each other and they sit down. "How was your holidays?" asks Tristan. "It was nice. Got to visit my grandmother and yeah me and Ayesha had a sleep over." I answer. "You know i was about to say don't fall pregnant but then I remembered that you safe." We laugh. "My mother kept on telling me to not have sex and i felt like telling her that I don't do boys."
"She doesn't know?" asks Kwenzo. "No its only my siblings, friends and grandmother and i would like to keep it that way for a while." I answer. "So are you lesbian or are you bisexual?" asks Kheto. "For now I can say I'm bisexual but I'm not sure. We shall see as the time goes on if i will ever like boys but i doubt it because this one won't let me go." We chuckle. "What did you guys do during the holidays?" asks Ayesha.
"I went to my grandparents house during the holidays and i was taught how to fight with sticks cause now I'm old enough." says Khulekani. "You lucky they teaching you now other kids had to learn at a younger age." I say. "Why are we using sticks though because when they rob you they use guns."
"You can easily go to self defense classes and also those gun training nton nton at your spare time and who knows maybe one day a stick will help you." says Kheto and Khulekani sighs. "You guys don't get me kuncono siyeke lendaba once." says Khulekani and we laugh. (its better if we leave it.) "I went to go visit my grandfather and i can officially say I'm back in his good books." says Kwenzo.
"That's nice. At least you won't feel akward when you with him." says Ayesha. "Yeah but I still need to earn forgiveness from my dad's side which I won't do because those people nje are the definition of toxic. How can a witch not forgive a drug user." We laugh. "Drug users steal and all that stuff when they in need of drugs." I say. "But I'm better than a witch. Umuntu uzokuvala impilo makakubona ukuthi uyaphumelela." We laugh. (A person will block you when they see you becoming successful.)
