Phiwokuhle's POV
"What girlfriend Phiwokuhle?" asks mom. I dart my eyes around the room to avoid her intense gaze. "Uhmm...Phiwokwakhe's girlfriend." I answer. "Phiwokwakhe was talking about you so don't try and lie to me. What girlfriend is he talking about?" I scratch the back of my neck and clear my throat. There is no point of lying cause the truth is out.
I see Mandisa and Musa peaking their heads to see what's going on. "Phiwokuhle talk mahn." says mom. "I have a girlfriend." I say. "As in like she is your friend." "No not that. We are together like officially dating." "So you," she clears her throat. "Lesbian or something?" "I'm bisexual." "You attracted to both genders?" I nod.
"Why didn't you tell me that you are bisexual?" she asks. "I was scared and i didn't know how you were going to react. Plus dad is homophobic so I was scared that he might harm me because I'm bisexual." I answer. "I would never ever judge you. You are my daughter and i love you for who you are and not who I want you to be." "Really?" She nods.
"Come hug me." she says and i walk to her side and wrap myself in her embrace. "I love you and you being bisexual doesn't change anything." she says. "Thank you mom and I love you too." I say. "Ma I also have something to tell you." says Mandisa. "Talk to me." "I'm lesbian. I'm attracted to girls only and I've never liked boys." "Come join the hug."
She walks to us and wraps her arms between the both of us. "You being lesbian or bisexual doesn't change anything about you because you still the same old Phiwokuhle and Mandisa difference is that you like girls too." says mom. "Thank you mama. I was scared you wouldn't accept me hence I was quiet." says Mandisa. "Well I accept you now." We nod. "I love you guys." "We love you too." "Come join in the hug."
They join in the hug and we stay like that for a while. We break apart from the hug after a while and we continue with what we were doing. I love my mom so much. "Not you trying to shift the whole thing to me." says Phiwokwakhe and i roll my eyes which causes him to chuckle. "I was in a tight corner and i thought I could still escape the whole talk." I say. "But here you are." "Here I am."
"Did you think ma was going to judge?" he asks. "There was that slight possibility hence i was scared to talk." I answer. "We accept you guys the way you are just like mom said we love you for who you are and not who we want you to be." "Thanks muntu ka dark dindi." He chuckles. (dark beauty's boyfriend.) "Elami lelo dark dindi." (She is mine.) "Umgcine njengo wakho ngoba sizomudla thina banye." We laugh. (Keep her as yours otherwise we will make her ours.)
The conversation could have gone anyways and I'm happy it went the way it did. My mother has never been judgemental but you can never be too sure, she might not mind it but she would have a problem if the kids did it. I'm glad she has accepted me and didn't kick me out or say she will pray for me.

My maths teacher called me to come see her during break time. When the bell rings I'm the first one out of class and i head to my maths teacher's class. I wonder why she called me because I've been on my best behaviour since I got into that fight with Dylan. I've steered clear out of trouble and i always submit my assignments on time so there is no reason to call me.I get to her class and knock twice on the door before I hear a come in. I enter her classroom and she tells me to take one of the chairs and sit next to her. I take the chair and sit down. "Is everything okay mam?" I ask. "Everything is okay. We've just opened schools and i never got to see your maths marks until now because someone put in your marks." she answers.
