Kwenzokuhle's POV
They usually say that your gut feeling never lies and you should always listen to it when it tells you something is wrong or something bad might happen. We watch the car Phiwo just got in drive off and i can't help shake off the bad feeling I get when I'm looking at that car. Something is off about the car and the way Phiwo acted.
She looked frightened but she tried to wear a mask that she usually wears for the outside world. I can see through her cracks now and she can no longer hide from me. If maybe this happened in term one I would have believed it when she said she is fine but now I don't at all. I'm glad that she has managed to open up to me so now I can sense her energy if its off. "Something is off." says Kagiso. "I feel you on that one." I say. I'm glad I'm not the only one that feels this way.
"What can we do cause my gut tells me we need to help her?" asks Ayesha. "Lets go to the office and ask for her mother's number and pray they give it to us." I answer and they nod and we walk back inside the building. We go to the front office and Ayesha does the talking and they give her the numbers which I'm thankful for cause I know how difficult these people can get. We walk back out and stand by the gate.
"I don't have airtime." says Ayesha. "I do so we can call with my phone." says Khulekani. He takes out his phone from his blazer and he switches it on and dials the number. "It's ringing can we go to a quiet and more private area." says Khulekani. "Lets stand here." We move to the tree that's a few feet away from the gate.
"Let me do the talking cause at least she knows me." says Ayesha. "Ahh you have met your mother in law." says Khulekani and nobody laughs. That was a good joke but now was not the best time to share it. "The time and situation doesn't agree with your jokes." I say. "Sorry."
"Hello." greets her mom. "Afternoon you speaking to Ayesha." "Oh hey Ayesha. Is everything okay?" "Phiwo got into a suspicious car but she said that you told her that your friend will be fetching her today." "No I don't have any friends and i would never let anyone fetch her not unless it's my mother. Did you see the person?"
"We didn't see the person clearly but we know it's a male." answers Ayesha. "What kind of car was it?" she asks. "A black Mercedes AMG." "Shit shit. I need to call the police right now. Thank you for calling me I'll get back to you." "What can we do to help?" "There is nothing that you can do. Just go home and focus on your studies. I'll call you guys back on this number if there is an update."
"No problem. But you can call us when you need help. We can ask our parents to intervene." says Ayesha. "No thank you but thanks for the offer i will let you know if i change my mind. Bye." she says and drops the phone.
"Now I'm really worried." I say. "We can't get involved because we are kids ourselves." says Kagiso. "But we can't just sit and wait." "Kwenzo we can't be supermen unless you involving adults." "We can't do that obviously I'm not that stupid and naive. I'm just scared that what if the police aren't willing to help us." "I know our justice system is fucked up but they can't let things like this slide."
