Chapter 20

Y/W/N's vision was clouded in darkness for what felt like an eternity as she thought about what she'd just seen/remembered. Who was that cat? How'd we know each other?

She couldn't shake the feeling that she'd had some kind of close connection to that tom, and tried to think about his pelt colour, but she couldn't remember it. However, something she did remember about the tom were his eyes.

They were E/C...... Same as me...... But before she'd come to a conclusion, Y/W/N jolted awake in a coughing fit, her lungs feeling like they'd been burned and her body ached everywhere.

Y/W/N's coughing fit alerted two cats in where she was, and it took her a moment to figure out who they were as the older cat exclaimed "You're finally awake! How are you feeling Y/W/N?"

The warriors eyes adjusted to the den and suddenly she was hit with the strong scent of Windclan. She figured she must be in the Windclan medicine cat den, and the cat speaking was Barkface.

"A lot of pain...." She rasped as her throat even felt extremely dry as if she hadn't had a drop of water for moons.

"Makes sense, you've been through a fire. You burned you hind leg pretty good" Barkface explained.

Y/W/N looked down to see cobwebs and moss dressing her hind left leg, and could see that most of the fur had been burned off. She then remembered a bit of what happened during the fire.

"Is Jayfeather okay?!?" She exclaimed, to which Barkface nodded. "Yeah, you're the only cat to have sustained serious injuries"

A younger cat came up to Y/W/N with a moss ball soaked in water. "Here you go Y/W/N" He said, and the warrior guessed that this was Barkfaces apprentice, Kestralpaw.

"Thank you" She replied, leaning forward and drinking the water from the soaked moss. It wasn't the same as drinking water from a pond, but Y/W/N wasn't about to complain, it still felt nice on her throat.

Barkface watched Y/W/N drink and sent Kestralpaw to fetch Onestar, the Windclan leader, to tell him that the Thunderclan warrior had woken up.

Once the apprentice had left, Barkface turned back to Y/W/N. "So, something with you and Jayfeather?" He asked curiously.

Y/W/N almost gasped as she heard Barkface "What? Why would you think I have something going on with Jayfeather?" She asked, though her heart was beating rapidly now.

"Well, you immediately asked about him upon waking up, and for the day he was here, he never left your side, at all" Barkface explained.

Y/W/N turned away, though she felt happy that the blind medicine cat was so worried for her. Oh no.... He must be so heartbroken right now......

Just then Onestar appeared and entered the den "Greetings Y/W/N, how are you feeling?" He asked, looking at the Thunderclan warrior.

"Sore and in pain, but I'll be fine" She said, her voice a little less raspy thanks to the water Kestralpaw brought for her. "Thanks for taking care of me..."

Onestar dipped his head "Of course, we'd never let another cat die like that, especially since you were brave enough to run back in for your clanmates"

Y/W/N purred slightly, but stopped as it hurt her throat. "Still, thank you. Although I'm anxious to return to Thunderclan" She said, even if it was more of wanting to return to Jayfeather more than anything.

"Of course you do. But you need to wait until you're well enough to walk again. Otherwise you'd probably just collapse again as soon as you leave camp" Onestar said. "I'll send some cats to inform Thunderclan that you're awake and healing better"
