(Yes, I know it's been a while since my last update to this story. Haven't had an accessible laptop but screw it, finally deciding to use my phone to write chapters. Hopefully I can update frequently lol. Also please bear in mind any mistakes made, a reason I don't exactly like using my phone for writing lol)
A few days had passed since Y/W/N's and Jaypaws encounter with the loner. Y/W/N had just woken up and left the warriors den, and she decided that despite not being assigned to any patrols, she'd go out hunting and hopefully also find some catmint for Jaypaw and Leafpool, seeing as Jaypaw and her never got any yesterday.
Y/W/N padded out of the Thunderclan camp and padded into the forest, keeping her ears perked for prey and her nose scenting for catmint. She didn't have high hopes for either, with the cold weather around. Y/W/N decided to go along the route she and Jaypaw used yesterday, considering they never went too far along the border.
This time there were no other cats there, clan or not, so Y/W/N went further and scented some mice nearby. Quickly and quietly dropping into a hunters crouch, she followed the scents until she could see a couple of mice scavenging for food in a small clearing.
Y/W/N circled the clearing until she was downwind of the mice, and seeing as they hadn't noticed the warrior yet, she crept up closer. Once she was within range, she leaped up and pounced, managing to land on one and swiftly kill it with a bite to the neck.
The other mouse quickly scurried into a burrow nearby, refusing that kill for Y/W/N. She shrugged and buried her prey nearby, marking it so she can grab it on the way back.
Y/W/N searched for a little while, but unfortunately never found anything else to grab, no prey for the clan or catmint for the medicine cats. A little disappointed, she headed back to the hollow, the one mouse she got hanging from her jaws.
Y/W/N padded into the hollow and threw her catch into the fresh-kill pile, even if it wasn't too much of a pile. The sun was going down over the horizon and giving the forest a nice orange glow.
Y/W/N decided to sit near the medicine cat den, scenting for Jaypaw and Leafpool, but only caught stale-ish scents of the medicine cats. They probably went to check on the cats in the Twoleg nest. Y/W/N thought, though she was a little disappointed that she wouldn't be able to see Jaypaw right then.
As Y/W/N turned away from the den entrance, Hollyleaf padded up to her. "Hey Y/W/N! Looking for Jaypaw or something?" She asked, a teasing tone in her voice that Y/W/N playfully rolled her eyes at
"Nah, just sitting her cause I like this spot" Y/W/N responded, looking at her friend "Just tried hunting a bit, I hate leaf-bare" She said, gesturing to the fresh-kill pile
"Yeah, it's tough. But we'll be fine." Hollyleaf said, though Y/W/N could barely hear the black cat mutter "Hopefully" right after. But she shrugged, considering that about half the clan had greencough.
"Hopefully Leafpool and Jaypaw get some catmint soon. I tried looking when I was hunting" Y/W/N said, to which Hollyleaf nodded in agreement. "Yeah. Anyways, wanna share some fresh-kill with me?"
Y/W/N nodded and followed her friend to the fresh-kill pile, where Hollyleaf picked out a thrush and the two she-cats padded to a shaded corner of the camp and shared it.
As she was eating, Y/W/N heard the bramble entrance rustle and she looked up to see the medicine cats returning. She smiled at the sight of Jaypaw, and was tempted to immediately go up and greet him, but decided not to as Leafpool was talking to him and they immediately went into the medicine cat den.
Soon the day ended and Y/W/N was headed back to the warriors den to sleep when she caught the sight of Jaypaw and Leafpool leaving. She looked up to see the half-moon shining brightly above them, and then just watched the medicine cats leave before heading to her nest.
