Y/W/N was curled up in the medicine cat den, having herself wrapped around the wet figure of Jayfeather. Although the she-cat was also just as soaked as her blind mate was, she was only focused on trying to keep him warm, even if she probably wasn't the best cat for that right now.

Y/W/N shivered a bit, not only from the cold fur and leaf-bare temperature, but from the memory of the day.

Y/W/N watched as Jayfeather went into the cold lake. She stood there for about half a moment, processing, before running onto the ice. She just barely stopped to look into the hole that had broken in the ice and, without thinking, jumped right into it, ignoring the shouts of everyone nearby.

The water was extremely cold, and although it was very difficult to see through it, Y/W/N found the gray pelt of the blind medicine cat, and grabbed a hold of him with her jaws. The she-cat grabbed Jayfeathers scruff and went to pull him up, though he seemed way heavier than he should've been.

After a few terrifying moments, Y/W/N managed to pull Jayfeather back up and through the lake surface, pulling the blind tom out. Other cats rushed in to help the two back to the shore, where Y/W/N kept herself curled against Jayfeather as he coughed up lakewater.

As the two were trying to recover from their freezing swim, a Shadowclan cat stalked over to them. Y/W/N recognized them from gatherings, a warrior named Dawnpelt.

"Why did you let Flametail die?!?" She yelled, getting in Jayfeathers face as Y/W/N protectively curled her tail around the tom.

"What do you mean, he let Flametail die? Flametail fell in too?" Y/W/N asked. She hadn't even seen the Shadowclan medicine cat during the commotion, nor falling in, only Jayfeather.

"Yes! And Jayfeather just killed him! And you too! Why didn't either of you pull him out?" Dawnpelt said, turning her attention to the P/C cat as well.

"I didn't even know Flametail went under!" Y/W/N replied sharply. Something then clicked for her. She saw Jayfeather go in after the ice broke, not when it did.

"And Jayfeather tried to save him! He didn't kill him in any way!" Y/W/N said as she realized it. It also explained why there was more weight when she tried to pull her mate up, and why it suddenly vanished.

"No, you and Jayfeather are murderers!" Dawnpelt screeched as her clanmates dragged her away from the two Thunderclan cats.

Y/W/N and Jayfeather were then helped back to the Thunderclan camp by their clanmates to get treated by Leafpool and make sure they would be okay after their icey swim.

Y/W/N lifted her head as Leafpool entered the medicine cat den, looking over at the two in their nest.

"You still doing okay?" The older she-cat asked with worry in her voice, to which Y/W/N nodded.

"Yeah. I don't feel anything getting worse, and it doesn't seem like Jayfeather is either." Y/W/N replied, looking over at the sleeping tom. Leafpool nodded and went into the herb  store.

Y/W/N sighed and laid her head down next to Jayfeathers, watching the blind toms face as he slept, letting her worries soften as she dozed off and fell asleep next to him.

Y/W/N awoke to find a paw softly prodding her side. She groaned and leaned away, opening her eyes to see Jayfeather sitting up.

"There you go. You have a real habit for sleeping in every time anything is wrong with you." The grey tom said.

Y/W/N purred a little and leaned back to where she was. "Maybe. But to be fair, it wasn't just me. You also decided to take a swim, though it was very heroic."

Jayfeather looked down at his paws, his blind gaze trailing. "Yeah. But I still failed."

Y/W/N pushed her nose into Jayfeathers shoulder. "Hey, don't say that. It wasn't your fault, and you tried your hardest. I didn't even realize Flametail went under until after I pulled you out, so don't go blaming yourself, even if Dawnpelt wants to."

Jayfeather sighed. "Alright, I guess you're right. So does this mean you're talking to me again?"

Y/W/N closed her eyes for a moment. Due to her worry for Jayfeather, she had forgotten all about the stick and the whole ancient cats situation.

"Yeah, we are. But please explain the whole thing, like, what's going on with these cats that you see because of the stick? What's the deal with this Half-Moon?"

Jayfeather looked away from Y/W/N. "It's.... complicated. I guess it's just that before, you were the only one who didn't pity me. From the start, you always seemed to admire how I dealt with being blind, instead of thinking that I need extra attention because of it. And when it turned into love, I don't know, I guess I started to feel the same."

Y/W/N purred and leaned her head against Jayfeathers shoulder. "Yeah, I guess that's why you're so grumpy with anyone else. It definitely doesn't help that you can hear their thoughts, and what they truly think of you."

Jayfeather nodded. "And when I'm with the stick, in this ancient time, I just seem to be a regular cat. I don't have to worry about the prophecy, or anyone feeling sorry for me. I guess that's why I thought I could have the same feelings."

Jayfeather then took a deep breath. "But I don't. Sure, it's different than what I feel for any other clanmate, but it's also different than what I feel for you. I feel pity from the clan, acceptance or normalization from the ancient cats, but you? It's all love. I'm sorry I made it  seem like I loved Half-Moon like I love you. I don't. I promise no one would ever be the same."

Y/W/N sighed as she felt her worries melt. "Thank you Jayfeather. You mean so much to me too, so I just didn't know what to do with the information on Half-Moon."

Jayfeather looked back towards Y/W/N with a purr. "Besides, they're ancient cats for a reason. I don't think I'd ever be able to stay there forever anyways."

Y/W/N giggled a bit. "I guess that would be hard. It'd be like trying to stay in Starclan when you're not dead."

Jayfeather shook his head in amusement. "Yeah. Plus, we've got our family here in Thunderclan as well, I could never leave that, regardless of how K/A/N is acting."

Y/W/N nuzzled Jayfeather briefly before stretching, still feeling colder than she probably should be normally, but shook out her pelt.

"Just don't decide to go swimming in frozen lakes every time we have an argument, I see what you mean about the worry of me almost dying now." She said, to which Jayfeather prodded her playfully.

"Yeah, and you can also stop almost dying."
