Chapter 24

Y/W/N stared at Jayfeather in shock, barely able to comprehend what he'd just said. I'm..... pregnant? She thought. At first she was happy, but then realized what it could mean.

How would I tell the clan? They'll question me about the father, and I can't say it's Jayfeather! She thought, panicking. Jayfeather must have sensed the she-cats panic as he quickly nuzzled her cheek

"Calm down Y/W/N, it'll be alright. For now, don't say anything, it shouldn't be physically noticeable at all yet. Just continue doing your regular duties and we'll figure out how to deal with it"

Y/W/N nodded, sighing as she trusted the blind medicine cat. He purred as he leaned away and left, heading back to the medicine cat den.

The next few days became very hectic for Thunderclan. Since Jayfeather and Leafpool didn't tell anyone that Hollyleaf and Y/W/N had anything to do with Ashfurs murder, they began to guess and the cats came to one conclusion; they thought Sol killed him.

So, Firestar agreed to send a patrol out to the Sun-drown-place to see Midnight the badger, and try to find Sol. Hollyleaf and Lionblaze were chosen along with Brambleclaw and Squirrelflight, so cats were anxious for their return, wanting to punish Sol as soon as possible.

Y/W/N felt bad. It's true that Sol was a cat who only used others for his own selfish greed, but she still basically framed him for a crime he didn't commit, and everyone wanted to punish the loner.

But Y/W/N was constantly worried about the possibility of being pregnant. When that showed, she'd have to have some sort of explanation, and she didn't know what she could say. She slightly hoped that Jayfeather was wrong, though his nose was very accurate with scents.

Y/W/N was just padding back to the warriors den after a patrol, feeling sluggish and worried when she accidentally ran into Cloudtail. "Oh! I'm sorry Cloudtail! I wasn't paying attention!"

The older white furred warrior shrugged it off "It's fine Y/W/N, it happens. Especially with something like a clanmate being murdered happening"

Y/W/N nodded, and was about to go around Cloudtail when he seemed to look at her, tasting the air. "Uh, Y/W/N?" He asked, stopping her with his tail. "Why do you have a slight milk-scent?"

Y/W/N's heart dropped. She had no idea why to say, especially since it hadn't even been long since she'd found out about the possibility. But it seemed to be confirmed now, and Y/W/N had no idea what to say.

"It's because I gave her a herb for some stomach pains she's been having. Don't worry about it Cloudtail" Jayfeathers voice startled Y/W/N, but was she ever grateful for the blind toms quick thinking.

Cloudtail nodded and left the two cats, and Jayfeather quickly gestures for Y/W/N to follow him. The she-cat did, and followed Jayfeather back to the medicine cat den.

"I think we should tell Firestar" Jayfeather said. "It's becoming apparent to others it seems, and that excuse won't work for very long at all."

Y/W/N was so unsure of that plan. On one paw, telling Firestar would mean she probably wouldn't have to hide her pregnancy, but on the other, she or Jayfeather or even both of them could be punished for this.

Y/W/N sighed "Alright, I trust you. We can go tell Firestar...." She said, a little worried. Jayfeather nodded and got up to leave, but stopped Y/W/N from following.

"Stay here, let me talk to him alone" He said, and left the medicine cat den, leaving Y/W/N to worry about what that conversation is going to be like.

Jayfeather padded across the clearing towards Firestar's den, nervousness rising in his chest. True, Firestar already knew about his relationship, but that was already against the code, what would the leader think of Y/W/N being pregnant, especially so early?
