Y/W/N woke up to the sound of Jayfeather rushing into the herb store, panicked a bit.
"Jayfeather? What's wrong?" She asked, getting up and blinking sleep out of her eyes. Jayfeather glanced in her direction, and Y/W/N could see worry in his blind blue eyes.
"K/A/N just came in covered in scratches!" Jayfeather exclaimed as he grabbed a bundle of herbs and Y/W/N scrambled to get up. "Worse, she keeps saying that she rolled over thorns! But it doesn't feel like a thorn did it!"
Y/W/N padded out of their nest and went over to the main area where K/A/N was laying in a nest, seemingly a little annoyed. The apprentice had quite a few scratches all over her body, and from what the warrior could tell, no thorn made the scratches, it looked like she'd been in a fight.
"What happened K/A/N?" Y/W/N asked her daughter, padding up to K/A/N, who responded; "As I told Jayfeather, there was a couple thorns in my nest. I'm fine!"
K/A/N had snapped at Y/W/N, surprising her as Jayfeather came up with moss, cobwebs, and marigold. Jayfeather began cleaning the blood and wounds up on K/A/N with moss.
"Chew the marigold please Y/W/N while I clean K/A/N's wounds" Jayfeather asked, to which Y/W/N grabbed the marigold stems and began chewing them into a poultice.
"I'm fine guys, you don't need to be so fussy!" K/A/N groaned, and Y/W/N just stared at her daughter in confusion. What is up with K/A/N? Why is she so moody?
Jayfeather sighed as he finished cleaning up K/A/N's wounds. "Now rub the poultice over her wounds, it'll help prevent infections" He said, and Y/W/N watched the apprentice roll her eyes and look away.
Once K/A/N's wounds were treated and bandaged up, Y/W/N pulled Jayfeather aside. "Did you read K/A/N's mind at all? Can you find out why she's being moody?"
Jayfeather sighed "No. As much as I don't like how K/A/N's acting towards us, I'm not gonna read her thoughts. It's probably just something to do with K/A/N being young" He explained.
Y/W/N glanced over at where K/A/N laid. "I guess you're right. Still, I want to know what exactly is making her act like this...."
Jayfeather nuzzled Y/W/N affectionately. "I know. She'll tell us when she wants to, don't worry"
Y/W/N purred but still looked towards K/A/N worriedly, sighing. "Alright." She said, nuzzling Jayfeather back before padding out of the medicine cat den.
Out in the clearing cats were talking about the stream still continuing to shrink, and about the worry of the lake possibly disappearing.
As Firestar was trying to calm his clan down, Dovepaw piped up. "What about the brown animals that are blocking the river?"
Cats stared at the apprentice, and she looked around confused. Y/W/N wondered what Dovepaw could even be thinking about, why the apprentice thought there was an animal blocking the water.
Y/W/N padded up to Dovepaw before any other cat decided to question her. "Hey, what do you mean? Like, where did you see these brown animals?" She asked in a whisper.
Dovepaw shrugged "I don't know where exactly. I can just sometimes see them, randomly"
"Just.... randomly? Like, you could see them just from camp or something?"
Dovepaw nodded "Sometimes if I focus I can see them on purpose"
Y/W/N thought about it. "Alright, could you go get Lionblaze and come to the medicine cat den with him?"
Dovepaw nodded again, though she was clearly confused. Y/W/N padded into the medicine cat den, glancing over at K/A/N who seemed to be ignoring her mother's presence.
Y/W/N sighed, padding over to Jayfeather. "Lionblaze and Dovepaw should be coming in" She told him, and he gave Y/W/N a confused look.
"Why?" The blind tom looked at his mate confusedly. Y/W/N didn't get to respond before Lionblaze and Dovepaw entered, and came over to the two mates.
"Okay Y/W/N, why did you have Dovepaw bring me here?" Lionblaze asked the P/C coloured she-cat.
Y/W/N sighed "Well, I think it's obvious that Dovepaws the third cat in that power of three prophecy" She explained. Dovepaw looked confused, and Lionblaze stared at Y/W/N.
"How in Starclans name do you know about that?" He asked, though he shifted his gaze to Jayfeather, taking a guess as to how.
Y/W/N stuttered, having forgotten that she wasn't supposed to have known about the prophecy "W-well I just heard it......"
Lionblaze sighed "Well, you're right anyways" He turned to his apprentice "You said you can see these brown animals blocking the river, right?"
Dovepaw nodded and Lionblaze continued "Can you try focusing on them? Find out where on the river they are?"
Dovepaw nodded "I can try" She said. The apprentice closed her eyes and Y/W/N could see her trying to focus.
After some time Dovepaw opened her eyes. "I only saw what I've seen before; some big brown animals building some sort of wooden thing that's blocking the rivers flow" she explained.
"That's alright. We should go tell Firestar what's going on. He knows the prophecy so we can explain Dovepaws power to him" Lionblaze said and led Dovepaw back out of the medicine cat den.
Y/W/N watched the two leave and then Jayfeather spoke up "You shouldn't have mentioned the prophecy...." He said
"Sorry, I forgot that I'm not supposed to know it" She said, looking back at her mate. "But on the topic of the river, what do you think will happen? Will Firestar send a patrol to stop these animals?"
Jayfeather shrugged "Maybe. He might get the other clans to help, granted he can find a way to explain how we would know about them"
Y/W/N nodded and murmured in agreement. "Yeah. Maybe he'll say Starclan told us?"
"Yeah, and that it was sent to an apprentice. Not sure if that'll be too believable"
"More believable than powers"
Jayfeather chuckled "I guess that's true. Anyways, I'm going to see how K/A/N's wounds are doing" The blind tom have Y/W/N an affectionate nuzzle before heading over to their kit.
Y/W/N sighed as she watched Jayfeather approach K/A/N and examine her wounds, the apprentice seemingly trying to ignore her father.
I wish I knew what was bothering K/A/N.....
