Lee Know and Changbin had watched the truck hit the tree, but there was nothing they could do about it. They didn't know if the man lived or died, but by assumption, they assumed he was dead. Behind them, the cop continued to chase them. If he watched the truck crash, he either didn't care or he didn't want to let the two of them get away.
Taking back roads to avoid traffic, the pair led him further and further away from his section of jurisdiction. After ten minutes, the cop hadn't given up. He was still cursing beneath his breath and glaring at them. The coagulated bloody film left behind on his face made his stomach churn.
Within a few minutes, the pair turned onto the road that led back to the warehouse. The further they drove, the darker it became. Maple trees had grown tall and branched out; intertwining with each other. Hundreds of bare tree limbs blocked out what little sun the gray skies provided.
The corners of the cop's mouth turned up into a grin. Surely, they'd have to give up here. The dirt path they were on was worn down. Tree branches reached out and caressed the sides of his car. The path was only a little wider than the width of his car. He was forced to slow down, so the branches didn't scratch it.
"Should we do it now?" Changbin's voice came through Lee Know's helmet.
"Yeah, go ahead."
Changbin pressed down on the Ninja's horn. A sharp loud beep filled the trees. The cop raised an eyebrow in confusion. Lee Know joined in and soon the pair were beeping their horns back and forth.
Back outside the warehouse, I.N's head shot up. He let go of the welded ball of metal in his hand and turned towards the path that led into the forest. He could hear the faint sound of a police siren. He sprinted off towards the open warehouse garage to grab Chan.
While in Kiera's room, Felix's head snapped towards the door when he heard I.N's voice. He was telling Chan that something was happening outside. Unable to help himself, he excused himself from Kiera's room, and disappeared to find out what was happening.
Kiera finished the last of her pancakes while I.N, Seungmin, and Chan headed out to the path. Felix hurried to catch up with them. The police siren grew louder and was accompanied with the sound of beeping horns.
Within seconds, Changbin and Lee Know's ninjas appeared up over a hill. The pair came speeding towards them. Behind them, red and blue lights flickered. They sped towards the back of the warehouse and cut their engines before they got off and walked back towards everyone.
The cop drove closer and cut his lights. Chan raised an eyebrow at the sight of the cop. Blood was smeared all over the front of his face. The cop didn't take his eyes off Changbin and Lee Know until he caught a glimpse of something in the corner of his eye.
He looked over and froze at the sight of three more men. Two of them were glaring and the third looked unamused. As Lee Know and Changbin walked over to explain the situation to the three, the cop gulped. He started to realize how bad the situation was.
He was in the middle of the forest all alone with five guys. Two of them had assaulted him and it was clear that the other three didn't take too kindly to cops. Another guy came skipping out of the front of the building and joined the other guys which brought the total to six.
While debating on what to do, one of the guys moved forward, and began to approach his window. He swallowed his fear and rolled the window down a few inches. Chan bent down, so he could speak to him. "How can I help you, officer?"
"Those two men on motorcycles assaulted me."
"I can see that." Chan's eyes scanned the officer's clean-shaven face. From his angle, he could see that blood was also coating the officer's hands. "What did you do to deserve that?"
"Excuse me?"
"I asked what you did to deserve that. People don't assault cops without a reason. So enlighten me and tell me what you did to deserve it."
"I asked to speak to the owner of the Bella-Nova Art Gallery and asked for his address."
"Is that all?"
"You know what? Never mind." The cop huffed and bent down to shift the gear shift into reverse.
"Step out of the car, officer."
"Huh?"
"Step out of the car," Chan's teeth gritted.
"That's not necessary, I'll just be going now."
A gun shot fired and caused the cop to yelp. The back glass window panel of the back seat behind him shattered. Seungmin held a gun up in his hand. "I believe he asked you nicely to get out of the car. Be a man, turn it off, and get out."
The cop wanted to escape, but he had no choice. He didn't have time to take out his own gun. With a sigh, he removed his key fob from the ignition and opened up his car door. Chan grabbed it and yanked it all the way open for him.
"I'm out of the car, so what do you want now?"
"Put your hands above your head."
"Is this really necessary?"
"Hands above your head!" Chan barked.
The cop quickly lifted his hands up. Chan began to remove the weapons from his tactical belt. He dropped the cop's gun and taser to the ground. When he found his handcuffs, he grabbed the cops arms, and cuffed them behind his back.
"Why are you doing this? You're all going to go to jail! When the department finds out that yo-"
"Who said your department is ever going to find out?"
The cop clenched his jaw. "What is the point of all this?"
Lee Know held up the cop's radio in his hand and waved it at him. "You're going to contact your colleagues and you're going to tell them that you cleared Hwang Hyunjin. You're going to tell them that he was in Chicago when Kiera Campbell went missing and there are witnesses to prove it."
"Or what?"
The piercing sound of Seungmin's gun firing and shattering the driver's window of the cop car answered his question.
