Chan left Lee Know to lecture Han and Hyunjin when they all got back to the warehouse. He didn't stick around to hear their excuses for almost letting Changbin get ambushed. He climbed into his car and drove back to the suburbs. The threat of secret service agents was neutralized for now. He needed to figure out how to find Felix, but until then, he'd find his comfort in Kiera.
Calling her name after he shut the house's front door, his eyes searched for her everywhere. After clearing the first level, he took the stairs two at a time until he reached the second floor. Just the thought of seeing her again made his heart flutter in his chest. He continued walking until he reached his bedroom door.
Calloused knuckles wrapped on the hardwood, but there wasn't a response. He pushed the door open and peeked inside. A wave of fury flushed through him when he spotted Kiera's wrists dangling above her head. Nobody told him they tied Kiera up.
He stepped further into the room and shut the door behind him. The key to the handcuffs gleamed a few feet away on the nightstand. He grabbed it, uncuffed Kiera, and placed the cuffs and the key on the nightstand. Her wrists weren't red from struggling, so Chan assumed someone knocked her out.
As carefully as he could, he scooped her body and pulled her closer towards him. He shifted to let her chin and head be supported by his shoulder. His muscular arms wrapped around her waist. He squeezed his eyes shut while hugging her.
Everything was okay with her. Ever since Chan originally bought her shampoo and conditioner, she smelled like coconuts. Not once had she ever complained about the products he bought her. The scent was light and sweet. Being so close to her body, it engulfed him.
Unconsciously, his body began to softly rock back and forth like he was rocking a small child. It was the same motion his mother used to do with him years ago when he couldn't sleep. The rocking motion brought comfort for unknown reasons. Maybe it was just the motion or maybe it was the silent love being poured from his mother's arms, he didn't know.
He wished life could be different and yet, he wouldn't change anything. Meeting his gang had been life-changing. After all, it was how he found Kiera. Without them, there wouldn't have been her. Without her, there wouldn't have been a kidnapped Felix. Of course, that wouldn't have happened if Chan kept his feelings inside himself like he normally did.
Focus on Kiera.
The thought grounded him in his reality. The comforting weight of her head on his shoulder. The coconut scent of her hair. Throughout the past few weeks, Kiera had become his rock. He often found himself relying on her in times of need. He didn't realize how much he appreciated physical touch until he began dating Kiera.
The two of them were always touching in some way. Holding hands, sprawling across each other's laps, sitting next to each other with their heads on each other's shoulders. Chan's favorite thing to do was to sneak up behind an unsuspecting Kiera and wrap his arms around her waist.
She'd squeal at the sudden touch. Before she was able to pry his hands away, he'd pick her up and spin her around and around. Her laughter was infectious and caused his heart to swell with love. Her reaction caused him to smile. The first few times it happened, he tried to remain stoic, but when Kiera complimented his smile, he couldn't help it.
He began letting his smile slip more often. He even found himself doing it with the members on occasion. A few days ago Changbin cracked a joke at the spur of the moment and Chan laughed. He was with Han and Changbin during that time. The pair were in such a shock, Han had to sit down in a chair to collect himself. Chan never showed his feelings until Kiera showed up.
After a few minutes, Chan placed Kiera back on her pillow. He placed a soft kiss to the side of her temple and whispered a barely audible "I love you." He slipped off his clothes, changed into pajamas, and curled back up beside Kiera. His arms wrapped around her and he let himself fall asleep with her in his arms.
Hours later, the soft yellow light of the sun crept into the room. Chan's eyes groggily opened and he rubbed his eyes. Today was another day and he wanted to begin forming a plan to find Felix. He pushed himself up and glanced over.
"Kiera, you're up already? Are you okay?"
Kiera was up with her back pressed against the bed's headboard. Her eyes were narrowed and her brows furrowed. Her shoulder-length hair poked out in every direction. Chan looked to the front of the room, but only saw the wall.
"What are you looking at?"
Kiera didn't respond.
Alarmed, Chan reached over and waved his hand in front of her face. "Kiera? Are you alright? What's going on?"
"Hmm?" Her head turned to face him.
"What's got you so deep in thought?"
Kiera opened her mouth, but then shut it. Her hesitation only caused Chan's worry to grow. He shoved himself up into a sitting position.
"What?" He raised an eyebrow. "What is it?"
"I overheard Seungmin and Han talking. Is what they're saying true? Does my father really have Felix? Was he kidnapped?"
The pained expression on her face hurt Chan in more ways than he could have imagined. He sucked in a sharp breath and nodded. "From what we understand, yeah. Apparently, Marvin Wilson has a son. I don't understand all of it, but Willie thinks he can find us through Felix and Marvin's son is helping him."
"Oh."
"It'll be okay, we're going to get Felix back."
"I'm worried about him," Kiera's voice cracked. "If my father killed my mom and he wants to kill me, then what if he ki-"
"No!" Chan snapped. "Don't think like that, Felix will be fine. You know why? Because he can't use Felix as leverage if he's dead. We're going to get him back, I promise."
Kiera bit down on her lip.
"What is it? What are you thinking about? You only do that when you want to say something, but you want to hold it back. What's going on?"
"I think I might know a way to bring Felix back home."
"Really?"
She nodded.
"So what is it?"
"It involves me going back to the white house."
