When the door to the bunker room opened, Hyunjin, Felix, and Han all tensed up. Who knew what horrors were laying on the other side. The woman, who brought Han into the room the previous day, stepped inside with her hands on her hips. The three men sat in their seats waiting for her to speak.
"Alright, here is the deal. The three of you can walk around because you're not secured to anything. Even though your handcuffs are cuffing your hands together, it doesn't mean you're completely harmless to me. So I came to offer you a deal."
"Which is?" Hyunjin asked.
"You don't attempt to harm me or run away. If you don't, I'll let you all starve and nearly dehydrate down here."
"And if we do what we're told and listen to you?"
The woman turned around, grabbed a small cart, and wheeled it into the room. Glass plates were adorned with a stack of pancakes, scrambled eggs, a few sausage links, and a few pieces of bacon. Everyone perked up at the scent of the bacon.
"If you do what you're told, I will feed you properly behind my boss' back."
"Why would you do that? Aren't you risking your job?" Worry filled Felix's eyes.
"I enjoy pissing him off, honestly. Not to mention, I don't see the point in letting you all starve. Why would you cooperate if you're being treated poorly? So do we have a deal?"
The men glanced at each other and nodded. She pushed the cart further into the room and placed plates, silverware, and a cup in front of everyone. A pitcher of freshly squeezed orange juice sat on top of the cart. She grabbed it and filled each glass.
Hyunjin shoved a mouthful of pancakes in his mouth and moaned in delight. The woman chuckled, "that good, hmm?"
"You have no fucking idea. My stomach has been growling since I got here. Thank you for doing this."
"Are we allowed to ask you your name?"
The woman turned to face Han. "My name is Suzie."
"Suzie, I hope you have the best day of your goddamn life today. I hope the world grants all your wishes. I hope you find a random hundred dollar bill." Hyunjin chowed down on another bite of pancakes. "I hope both sides of your pillow are cold."
Han rolled his eyes. He moved his hands to grab his fork. Hours ago, Suzie uncuffed his hands from behind his back and secured them at his chest. Suzie laughed until she turned her attention to Felix. Her laughter suddenly came to a halt. Realizing Felix was being watched, he glanced up to meet her emerald eyes.
"You were the woman who kidnapped me in Chicago."
"Yeah, I was. I'm sorry about that, but I was just doing my job. I wanted to remind you to be careful. You haven't eaten since you got here, so it's been a few days. Just take your time eating, okay?"
Felix nodded his head. With a shaky hand, he lifted a forkful of eggs to his mouth. Whoever made them seasoned them perfectly or maybe it was because he hadn't had food in so long that anything would have tasted good. Whatever it was, it didn't matter. He was thrilled that he finally had food.
He closed his eyes at the taste and slumped back in his chair. Suzie shifted and readjusted her ponytail. Her blonde hair sat in waves secured at the top of her head. She glanced around again to check on everyone. "I'll let you guys enjoy your meal for a while. I'll see you soon."
Once she left, the door clicked behind her. Han glanced down at a strip of bacon he held between his fingers. "It'd be so easy for them to drug us."
"I don't give a shit, I'm starving. I can't even imagine how Felix feels. Suzie was right about one thing, Felix, take your time eating."
"Don't worry," Felix shrugged, "I'm not that hungry." He bit off a small bite of sausage. "I've gotten used to hunger, so it's not too bad anymore. I doubt I'll be able to eat much anyway."
"I wonder why she did this. Does she really hate her boss that much? If I was her, I'd be terrified!"
"I'm glad she did it," Han smiled. "It was really nice of her. We shouldn't trust her so easily, but she's right. This makes me want to be more compliant."
"Are you insane? We're not going to comply with their bullshit."
"Hypothetically, speaking!"
"Where are you going?" Hyunjin's attention turned to Felix.
He had pushed himself out of his chair. "While you two are fighting, I'm going to the bathroom. I might have chugged my orange juice. I've been so thirsty."
Han and Hyunjin went back to bickering with each other. Felix turned around and headed to the door located behind him. He couldn't see it when he was zip-tied to his chair the previous day, but there was a bathroom door behind him.
The room was a relatively small square. There was a toilet and a sink, but that was it. Felix was just glad they actually had a place where they could use the bathroom. He slipped inside and shut the door behind him.
They didn't know that Kiera Campbell sat directly above them, on the top floor, having her own breakfast and drinking orange juice.
