At the compound

The remaining Avengers back in New York just came back. Like in London, a nuke was coming straight for New York and the people started to freak out, until the last second it changed its course.

But when they walk into the livingroom, they see Coulson standing in it with a sad look on his face. Nobody dares to say anything but Natasha is the first to break it.

'What's wrong?' She asks, afraid of the answer.

'Kiara was able to kill Eric Lehnsherr. . .' Coulson begins.

'But?' Steve asks, also afraid for the answer.

'Before she could, he stabbed her close to her heart, close to her ribs and in the stomach.' Coulson takes in a shaky breath. 'When she saw that he was dead, she dropped down to, loosing much blood due the stabwounds.' Coulson explains as he lets a tear fall. 'They managed to take her to St Thomas' hospital where she's now in a coma. The doctors don't know when or even if she's gonna wake up.'

'No.' Wanda says softly as tears are forming in her eyes.

'Is she still there?' Steve asks as his voice breaks.

Coulson nods. 'I'm here to take you guys to her if you would like. Just get dressed, and take your time, she is in good hands.'

'How's Mia?' Sam asks, hoping she is alive.

'The rest of the S.H.I.E.L.D. agents, including Mia and Carol merely have some flesh wounds. They don't even have to stay.'

'Good.' Sam says in relief.

'Lacerated spinal column, cracked sternum, shattered collarbone, perforated liver and a cracked rib.' One of the doctors says, explaining to the others about Kiara's injuries.

'Don't forget her collapsed lung.' Another doctor says.

'Let's not forget about that.' He says. 'She is stable right now, but we can't say for sure she'll pull through. Time will tell us if she'll make it.' He says and then the two doctors walk away, leaving the Avengers alone with Kiara.

'God.' Steve croaks out as he takes a step to her injured body as he takes in her black eye and the bruises on her arms. 'Lehnsherr did all of this?'

'He did.' Mia says as she pulls away from Sam, who she's been hugging the second he got here for comfort. 'He was too powerful but she choose to go up against him anyways.'

'And he's dead?' Wanda asks.

'Kiara managed to kill him before she fell down. He's six feet underground.' Mia answers.

'Good.' Natasha says.

A few weeks later

'KIE!'

Steve picks himself off the ground and runs to the window.

'No!'

Banging on the glass, despertely needing her to know that he's here.

'Fight, Kie! Just fight!'

Hands on him as they try to calm him down, but the only thing he can focus on is the continuous sound of a flatline.
