The next morning, Steve wakes up first. When he looks down he sees Kiara snoring solftly as she lays with her head on his bare chest.

He smiles as he strokes her hair. Then she softly groans and opens her eyes. 'Morning, baby.' Steve whispers when she looks up at him.

'Morning.' Kiara says with a smile on her face.

'How were things with Peggy?' Steve asks.

Kiara sighs. 'Pretty good, actually. I think it really gave me the closure I needed.' She says.

'That's good.' Steve says as he kisses her temple. 'I'm happy for you.'

Kiara smiles as Steve leans in and gives her a kiss. Then they hear a knock on the door. Kiara and Steve sit up.

'Come in.' Kiara says.

The door opens and Coulson walks in. 'Hey, Ac.' Kiara says.

'Hey. Can I talk to Kiara for a sec?' Coulson asks.

'Sure.' Steve says as he gets out of bed. He gives Kiara a kiss on her forehead and walks out of the bedroom, leaving Kiara and Coulson alone.

Kiara can see Coulson is nervous as he sits down on the bed. 'Ac, are you nervous?' Kiara asks.

'A bit.' Coulson says.

'Allright. What's going on?'

'I have something for you.'

Kiara sits back against the headboard as she rubs her eyes. 'What is it?" She asks with curiosity.

Coulson leans down into his back and rummages through a few things before pulling out a dark blue folder. He hands it to Kiara with a nervous smile.

'Am I finally being sued?' Kiara jokes, still not knowing if the whole Accords thing is going to be handled right now after the Blip.

Coulson chuckles. 'Believe me, if you were being sued the last person Ross would tell is me.'

Very true Kiara thinks. She gives Coulson a curious glance as she opens up the folder and finds a small group papers tucked inside. Kiara feels her heart completely stop as she reads the title at the top of the page.

With a shaky breath and tears coming in she looks up at Coulson in disbelief. 'These are adoption papers.' Kiara chokes out.

Coulson gives Kiara a soft, caring. . . fatherly smile. 'I've worked on these for a while. I would have given them to you sooner but then the Accords happen and then the Blip.' He says with slight annoyance in his tone.

Kiara looks down at the forms, trying to come to terms with what this means. She's reading through the papers and while the legal phrasing of the words makes it seem more of a contract, which it kind of is, it still doesn't take away from what these papers are essentially saying: Phillip J. Coulson is agreeing to adopt Kiara Carter and takes full legal responsibility for her.

'You seem shocked.' Coulson says after giving her some time to process.

'I mean, I always saw you as my father since we got to know eachother better. But I never thought you wanted to adopt me.' Kiara says, trying to figure out what he could possibly get out of this. 'You really want to do this?' She asks.

'Look.' Coulson says as he leans forward. 'Wether we make it legal or not one thing is clear. . . you're my kid. I always felt that connection early on. And I know this us unorthodox considering you're an adult but, it feels right for me.' He seems genuinely excited for this as he talks about it and she can feel her emotions starting to get to her again as she looks back down at the papers.
