started as a lie

the next day, we woke up still in the same position. it felt kind of nice waking up in leah's arms. it felt different.

something kept replaying in my head. the thing that my mum said yesterday. leah looks at me like she's completely in love with me. at first i thought it was just part of the act. but you can't fake that, can you?

i slipped out of leah's arms and went to the bathroom and then i got back into bed. i scrolled the my phone and waited for leah to wake up. i don't want to wake her up too early or she'll be grumpy. i learnt that the hard way yesterday.

"morning" she said, stretching and accidentally hitting me in the face.

"oh shit sorry" she panicked.

"don't worry about it" i laughed. i put my phone away and sat up.

"so what's the plan for today?" leah asked.

"i'm not too sure. i don't think we're doing anything in the morning but later on some of my family is coming for dinner. and by some i mean everyone. i'll be surprised if my mum hasn't blabbed to the whole street that i've brought a girl home" i rolled my eyes.

"awh that's cute" she said.

"it's not. it's embarrassing. i don't need her random friends to know my whole life story" i groaned.

we got up and went downstairs for breakfast. only oliver was downstairs.

"mornin ol" i said as i grabbed the cereal from the drawer.

"morning. glad to know that you two weren't up to dirty trouble last night. very thin walls i must say" ollie said, hinting to us that whatever we do or say, he will probably hear from his room.

"well i don't bring people home just to fuck them, unlike some, i know all about the thin walls thank you very much" i said, giving him a look.

"ooh now i have to know" leah joked from the dining table.

"basically, when i was visiting, ol brought his girlfriend at the time home and i heard them fucking all night. it was disgusting and i never want to think about it again." i said.

"that's funny." leah said, laughing.
"no it's traumatic. what would you do if that happened to you and it was jacob and his girlfriend" i said.

"no i dont want to think about that" leah said.
"exactly" i said.

i put her bowl on the table and brought mine over too. we sat and ate.

"what's happening today" i asked oliver.

"nothing until late. everyone's coming for dinner, to see you and meet leah. they're all dead excited." ollie said.

after eating me and leah went and got ready. we sat on the sofa and watched tv.

it was around 5 o'clock now so everyone should be coming soon. we're all just sat on the sofa watching tv and chatting.

"sof, i need you to come with me to pick my car up" ollie said.

"alright." i said, getting up to go.

"i'll be back soon le" i said and bent down to kiss her cheek. i saw her cheeks blush slightly but thought nothing of it and left.

i got in my car with oliver and drove to the car garage. he picked up his car and we came home.

i went in and saw leah still on the sofa. i stood behind her and put my hands at her cheeks. i tipped her head up by her chin and she smiled at me.

we stayed there, looking into each others eyes until she did something that i never thought would happen. she pulled me down by my face and connected our lips. i put my hands at her cheeks and deepened the kiss slightly. this is just for show, right?

"get a room" ollie shouted from the kitchen.

i pulled away and turned bright red. leah was also red. this felt like a bit more than pretend.

i took leah to the stairs, away from everyone so our conversation couldn't be heard.

"what was that" i said.
"what, was i not supposed to? did it make you uncomfortable? oh sophia i'm so sorry" she went on.

"no no it's just that i didn't expect it. that's good, it is more persuasive" i said.

what am i even talking about?

"right? so more of that?" she questioned.

"probably not that much or i might end up falling in love with you for real" i joked. she laughed slightly and then we went back.

after a little while, lots of people started to arrive. my mum apparently said that everyone from one household has to bring a dish of food or dessert so we have enough for everyone. the house is packed and there is barely any room to sit.

all my aunts, uncles, cousins. everyone is here. leah met my sister lisa and her son, jamie. 

after eating, my cousins who are around the same age, sat together and we had a nice catch up like we used to when we were kids.

i got up to get some drinks and when i got back, my seat had been taken. leah patted for me to sit on her lap so i did. she wrapped her arm around my waist for support and rested her chin on my shoulder.

after a couple of hours, most people had gone. only my closest cousins and my sister were still here.

"can we go in the garden and set the fire pit up" laura asked.

we all went outside and set up the fire pit. we had hoodies and blankets as it is very cold out.

we roasted marshmallows and chilled out. i ended up laying down on leah's chest as they questioned leah about us.

she was surprisingly calm under all the pressure and answered everything well.

the girls left apart from lisa. she stayed in her old room for the night as jamie already fell asleep.

me and leah were getting ready for bed when leah's phone rang.

"leah it's your mum" i called to her through the bathroom.

"can you answer and tell her i'll just be a minute" she said.

i answered the phone for her.
"hi amanda it's sophia"
"hello sophia darling, how are you" she asked.

"i'm good how are you?" i asked.
"i'm doing well lovely. where's leah?" she asked.

"oh she's in the bathroom. she'll just be a minute" i said.

"alright" she said. we chatted until leah got out of the bathroom and then we both got into bed.

i lay on leah's chest and she put an arm around me. she was still speaking to her mum and then my mum walked in.

"do any of you two need anything" she asked.
"no thanks mum, we're alright" i said.

"okay. you two are just so cute together" she said and then left.

"so how's things going with sophia" i heard amanda say through the phone.

"shush mum" leah said in panic.
"oh is she there" amanda said.
"yes" leah sighed.

after a while leah said bye to her mum and put the phone away.

"sorry about that" she said.

"what did your mum mean before about me?" i asked. the whole time leah was speaking to her mum i was thinking about that. leah talks to her mum about me?

"it doesn't matter. now isn't the right time" she said.

great. this is going to play in my mind for ages now.

"good night leah" i said, my lips brushed against her neck.

"good night soph" she said and kissed the top of my head.

she wrapped her arms tighter around me and then we fell asleep.
