started as a lie

i woke up at about 7 and got out of bed to check if lily was awake yet.

i knocked on the door and walked in. she was still asleep. i sat at the edge of the bed and shook her gently.

"lily darling. you need to wake up now for school" i said.

she slowly rubbed her eyes and sat up.

"i'll go down and make you breakfast yeah?" i said.

"thanks soph" she said. she got up and went to the bathroom.

i made her some breakfast and some for myself.
she came downstairs after about half an hour.

"aww look at you" i said. i got my phone out to take her picture.

"no please don't" she groaned as she sat at the table.

"alright alright" i said. "i'm going to get dressed and i'll drop you off"

i went upstairs and got myself dressed.
"leah i'm going to drop lily off at school" i said.

she just mumbled sleepily. i chuckled to myself and went downstairs to lily.

"ready?" i asked her. she nodded nervously.

"lily you have absolutely nothing to worry about. everything will be completely fine" i said. i gave her a hug and then put on my shoes and coat.

"should we go in the lambo?" i asked.

"NO" she said. "i'm sorry no thanks. i don't want everyone to think i'm some rich privileged kid on my first day. it's probably not setting a good first impression"

"fair enough" i said. i picked up my other keys and we left the house.

lilys pov

i got into the car and looked at my phone. i have a message from lauryn.

L😍: morning baby girl. have a wonderful first day at school. don't be too nervous. i'll speak to you after. i love you tonnes x

me: hey baby, thank you. you have a good day at school too. i love you more x

sophia pulled up outside the school a bit down the road. i hugged her and then got out of the car.

i walked into the office.

"hi um- this is my first day here" i said to the lady at the desk.

"ahh yes what's your name dear?" she said.

"lily. lily williamson" i said. it still feels surreal to think that leah and sophia are my mums.

"okay dear just take a seat over there and we'll be with you shortly." she said pointing at the seating area.

i sat down and played with the rings on my fingers.

a little while later, a teacher who i assume is the principal walked in, closely followed by another student who is in my year.

"hi i'm principal harris. and you must be lily" he said holding his hand out for me to shake.

"yeah" i said nervously, shaking his hand.

"don't worry i don't bite" he laughed.

"this is daisy, she'll be your buddy for your first week. you'll be following her around for the day and then if you need anything you can ask her" he said.

"thank you" i said. he walked out and i was left awkwardly with daisy.

"i love your eyelashes, are they strip lashes or individuals?" she asked.
