Jungkook was no where to be seen when I awoke this morning. I don't know why I would expect him to be by my side. It's not like we're together. But still, I can't get the image of his eyes out of my mind from last night. They say eyes are the language of the soul and indeed, in that moment I felt his despair—his pain.

It's rare to see his true emotions as they are always hidden beneath his stone cold eyes. So cold and so dark, sometimes he doesn't even look like himself—atleast the Jungkook I used to know.

A faint memory of his smile and laughter crosses my mind all of a sudden.

What is this pain in my heart?

What is this pain in my heart?

It's so gruelling. So dreadfully painful, it feels like death. Is it because those moments are nothing but memories? The Jungkook now is far from the one I knew. Or so it seems like it. But I always knew deep down, behind his cold demeanour, he was truly kind-hearted.

The rich, stimulating rush of brewing coffee drew me in and my churning thoughts fades away. My surroundings becomes audible, hearing my colleagues chattering away in the break room. I didn't pay it no mind until I hear my name mentioned.

"...I heard she and Jimin had a fling." A girl whispers behind me.

The other girl chuckles. It's Areum. "I've been here two years before her, yet she got promoted that quick and that easily. I'm sure that rumour is true."
