Ohio New Student Conference
The first item on the agenda for new students that were to spend their freshman year at OSU was to attend what was called a "new student conference." I had never been to the full OSU campus so aside from not knowing where to go, or even arranging transportation that day, I was completely alone. You see the trend for this event is not just for the student, but for the parents as well to be there and be a part of their child's success from hard work in the previous years of schooling.
The worst part of this event was that I was quite literally the only incoming Freshman that didn't have their parents with them to help, I was completely alone. This was right after my mother had passed and my father was in Arkansas, and I only had a few friends.
