Jennie
I lied to Jisoo when I said it was okay for me to meet her friends.
I'm almost shaking with anxiety and worry because I'm afraid of making a bad impression when I already have the idea that they hate me. I mean, what's right is that they hate me because of everything I did and said to Jisoo back then.
I feel a chill run through my body just remembering everything we've been through and I silently hope that things will work out. I hope her friends can see that I'm a different person than I used to be and that all I want is to make her happy.
I let out a sigh and look to the side, watching Jisoo read the menu while we wait for Lisa and Rosé to arrive.
"Is everything fine?" Jisoo turns to me, watching me carefully, as if she knows something is wrong. "Relax, my friends are cool and they will love you, because I love you." Jisoo squeezes my hand that is resting on her thigh and I smile as I look at this affectionate gesture.
"HEY, WASSSUUUUUP!!!!" the shrill voice is close to us, tearing me away from this moment with Jisoo and I'm staring at a girl with short hair and a wide smile. "Happy birthday, Jichu! I wish you much happiness, health, peace and love."
"LISA-YAAAAAAH! Thanks, I wish you double everything!" Jisoo gets up to hug Lisa and I watch them both. "Where's Rosie?"
"She is coming." Lisa says and turns to me, looking at me carefully.
"Lili, this is Jennie, my girlfriend." Jisoo points at me "Jendeukie, this is Lisa, my longtime friend."
"Hey!" I stand up and shake her hand, standing next to Jisoo who puts her arm around my waist.
"It's good to finally meet you, Jennie." Lisa smiles widely at me.
"It's good to meet you too because Jisoo always talks about you."
"LIZ!" a soft voice is present and I observe a blonde approaching, practically skipping, towards us. "Oh my gosh, it was so difficult to park." the blonde says in a dramatic tone and throws her arms around Lisa.
"It's full, isn't it?"
"I didn't imagine it would be that much." the blonde laughs and turns to us "Jisoonie! Happy birthday! It's good to celebrate another year with you." She hugs Jisoo and I watch the interaction between them.
"Thanks, Chaengie!" Jisoo says in a somewhat muffled voice "I'm glad we're here, let me introduce you to my girlfriend." She pulls my hand, making me get closer to them. "Mandu, this is Rosé, Lisa's girlfriend." Jisoo opens a bright smile "Pasta, this is Jennie."
"Hi, Jennie!" the blonde looks at me from head to toe and opens a wide smile "You're famous around here."
"You and Lisa are too." I give a brief smile and Jisoo laughs.
We sit down and they start talking, but I think it's cute that they include me in their topics, always asking my opinion on whatever they're talking about. Jisoo laughs and puts her arm around my waist, pulling me towards her.
"Look who arrived!" Jisoo gets up, showing that she is quite excited after a few mugs of beer and points to the entrance to the place where we are. I believe it's Boohyun and Heejin.
"Sooya! Happy birthday!" Heejin, who is a friend from Jisoo's work, hugs her tightly.
"Thanks, I'm glad you were able to come." Jisoo smiles widely. "Boohyun! We haven't seen each other for so long."
"Yes, it's been a while." he laughs and hugs Jisoo "Happy birthday, Jichu, I'm glad you called me."
"I have no reason not to call you, you are my friend!" Jisoo moves away from him "This is Jennie!" she pulls me close to her "Boohyun, Heejin, this is Jennie." they both smile friendly at me and shake my hand.
Naturally, I spend most of the time silent and just observing the dialogue between them. I mainly watch Boohyun and I wonder how they dated and how they worked out if they are so different.
The only thing that's on my mind is: My God?? Like what? Why? How did this relationship happen?
They literally have nothing to do with each other, I can't understand how the two dated. I keep looking from one to the other until I give up understanding how they worked out.
If I stop to analyze and follow logic, it's totally unlikely that Jisoo and I would be here today, but look where we are.
Boohyun diverts my thoughts when he starts talking to me about photos and polaroids. I end up discovering that we have this in common and our conversation lasts long enough until the waiters divert my attention by singing happy birthday to Jisoo, leaving her embarrassed.
I decide to record this moment and I'm so happy to be able to share it with Jisoo when I see her smiling and clapping for herself with a big smile on her face. It's great to share my life with her.
I let out a sigh when I finish the recording and send it to the group with my mother and cousins. They question where I am and I just tell them it's a friend's birthday. I lock the phone screen and realize that Jisoo is shoving a dessert spoon into my mouth, making me laugh.
"Okay, love, okay, I'm going to eat." I say and Jisoo laughs.
"It's for eating, my passion." She gives me a quick kiss, in front of her friends, making my cheeks burn with embarrassment.
"I'm not a big fan of sweets." I frown and Jisoo caresses my cheek.
"I know, but I wanted to share it with you." Jisoo takes my hand and intertwines our fingers, squeezing tightly and kissing my hand. "Everything with you, Jendeukie." She smiles widely and I let out a passionate sigh.
