[Wally's POV]

I sat at my desk. I could barely sit still knowing [name] was alone. I couldn't even think about their name without my heart breaking and thrashing in its shredded pieces. But everything stopped when I heard my doors burst open, both at the same time. I looked up and spotted my lawyers, Barnaby and Sally. Two of the biggest idiots I knew who were both childhood friends of mine. Sally was an ex-theater kid and Barnaby was a deadbeat comedian.

"Fear not, we have arrived." Sally came bursting down the office and pulled up a rickety chair for Barnaby while she sat in the leather chair. Barnaby, a big, blue dog certainly didn't fit in the chair. He grabbed Sally by her sun-like head, his paws getting poked by her sunny points, and traded seats with her while she squirmed. They had both worn professional suits but had stupid heart sunglasses as if they had movie-hopped from Barbie to Oppenheimer.

"You're both an hour late. What took so goddamn long?" I grunted. I intertwined my fingers and kept them propped on the desk. "We had to stop for Dr. Peppers." Sally scoffed. I didn't have time to react, I just looked at the two.

"Whatever. Do you have the files I asked you to bring?" I narrowed my eyes as I studied their briefcases. Barnaby picked him up, clicking it open. "Yup. Sure did." He said as Sally leaned over and held up two worn files, the papers inside yellowed. "Walden, why did you ask us to bring these?" Sally's voice dropped, and she propped her sunglasses on her forehead. "Because I need to be somewhere where I can never hurt [name] again." I gripped my hands tightly together. "I am going to be the Rainbow Factory's final test subject."

The hammer swung onto the metal again and again, sparks flying as Noctine and her team kept carving the mechanics and shells for these prosthetics. A department in the factory used for blacksmithing and engineering, the department that had wielded several machines for the factory.

"Noctine," Frank called from over the demon's shoulder. Her ears twitched when she heard her name, and she turned around to look below her. "Is he impatient?" She asked in her cold and lulling voice. "He just wants to know how long it's going to take. I want to know that too. I haven't left this factory in days." They grumbled, leaning their hands over the table, and stared down at the stunning metal arm Noctine herself had crafted. The arms and finger joints were engraved inside with shining green encrusting to balance off the red serum dosage.*

Each limb had that. The limbs themselves were shaped just like any other body part, except made of silver metal and swirled like a beautiful cage that caged glowing green wires inside that gave the limb its energy to fight off the red serum. They flickered around like burning embers, rushing through their tubes.

"Tell him all that needs to be done in the final welding that I'm doing right now, then be wheeled off to the operation. Wally would know that if he ever came down here." She turned back around and picked up a tool that welded the mechanics together like lava. "Can you blame him? We practically had to pry him away from the body, and the only thing that could get him out of the operation room was a meeting with his lawyers." Frank explained, rubbing the bridge of their nose with frustration.

"What is he seeing his lawyers for?" Noctine asked from over her lavender shoulder. "Damned if I know," Frank grumbled. "He's so private. I bet [name] would know." They joked, laying their head on the table. Noctine patted his back in comfort with her black-gloved hand.  Noctine could sense your struggle.

She had worked in the factory as a blacksmith since the beginning. Not just of Wally's control, not even of his father Wallace's control. Noctine had been working in the factory for over five generations. She was the first subject of the Rainbow Serum far before it even had a name. She had accidentally ingested it years ago, making her immortal. It was the overall effect of the Rainbow Serum. It cured anything and everything, being the ultimate drug. It cured death and made her invincible.

Frank flinched. "Holy shit. I think I have an idea." They sat up immediately as if a light bulb was being turned on in their head. "Great." Noctine grumbled under her icy breath "If we give [name] the green dosage, it'll balance out and make them just a normal being." They started to ramble, circling the table. "If we give them the entire serum, they'll be immortal." They went on. Noctine paused her work to listen. It was starting to make sense, but she had her worries.

"But they've already ingested the cycle of the Red Serum. If you give them the entire serum including the extra red, they'll be an immortal monstrosity." She put her hand on her hip, leaning over the workbench. "And you can't give them the serum without the red either. It'll have malfunctions since it was added separately. That'll kill them." She let him think about that.

"Then if we want to make an immortal, then we have to talk to one," Frank concluded. She raised her eyebrows, frowning. "We? Hell no, Frank. Don't drag me into your insane science project. Just make them normal. It's that easy." She resumed her work, but the gears in Frank's head didn't stop turning.

'If we make them immortal,' Frank thought to himself as he left the lab. 'Then nothing like this can ever happen to them again.' They were bursting with ideas, so they went to Wally's office.
