Chapter 16: Her Escape

Clarisse's POV

Lahat ng employees ng anak kong si Jonathan ay yumuko when I passed by them. I came here in my son's house because like what I said last night to Nina, I'd be coming to see her today.

I pitied her for how my son had been treating her. Nasasayangan din ako. Gusto ko pa naman siya para sa anak ko but my hopes faded when I found out that he was just using her. Though I noticed that there was a spark in his eyes when he looked at her. I assumed that he liked her. He just probably couldn't admit it to himself.

I wanted to laugh at him. My son is in denial when it comes to love. Ayokong tumanda siyang mag-isa kaya I would do something that would make him come out of his shell. For goodness sake, he is not getting any younger and yet he still never had a girlfriend! Hindi ako papayag na hanggang dito na lang ang lahi namin.

I felt like I was the one who should be blamed. If it wasn't because of me, he could have found a woman he deserved.

Pinalaki ko kasi siyang ako lang ang babae sa buhay niya. He gave his attention to me that's why he did not bother to look at other woman. He put his family and business first than finding a woman that would give him a family.

I have to do something. I do not want him to grow old alone. He deserves someone to be with him for the rest of his life.

"Where is she?" I asked one of the guards.

"Sino po, madame?"

"Nina," sagot ko habang naglalakad.

"Nasa empty storage room po, madame."

I suddenly stopped walking when I heard what he said.

"What?! What is she doing there?" I asked with my eyebrow raised.

"Ah.. Eh doon po kasi siya pinalagay ni boss, madame."

Naglakad ako agad papunta doon sa kwarto na sinasabi niya. Umiinit ang ulo ko. Naiinis ako sa anak ko. Ang akala ko ay kinukulong lang niya dito sa bahay niya si Nina pero hindi sa bahay lang kundi sa isang storage room! He is too much!

I was so disappointed of him.

Pagdating ko sa tapat ng pinto, pinihit ko ang door knob but it would not open.

"Excuse me po, madame. Bubuksan ko po muna. Naka-lock po kasi yan. Sabi kasi ni boss ay walang ibang pwedeng pumasok kundi yung nagdadala lang ng pagkain at siya lang daw," sabi nito saka nilagay ang susi sa door knob ng pinto.

Nung bumukas ang pinto ay agad akong pumasok. Nagulat ako sa nadatnan ko. This room is so small. Walang ibang gamit except for a bed! How did he manage to let her stay in this kind of room?! This was like a prison! Nina did not deserve this!

"Tita?" Napabangon si Nina mula sa pagkakahiga sa kama when she saw me.

I apologetically smiled at her. I went near her and hugged her tightly. "I am so sorry, hija. My son is really mean. He should not do this to you. I'm so sorry."

I could feel that she hugged me back.

"Tita, okay lang po ako dito."

I looked at her and shook my head. "No, it is not okay. At least not to me. Come with me, I am going to get you out of here."

"Po?" Nagulat siya sa narinig.

"Ilalabas kita dito. I will take you to a place where he can't find you."

"Pero baka po mahuli tayo ni Nathan? Baka po magalit siya pag nalaman niya."

"He is not here, so he won't find out. I asked his assistant, and he said that they are currently in Davao for a meeting and they will be back this evening pa. So let's go now that we still have time."
