Clarisse's POV

I heard a commotion downstairs that woke me up. A smile formed in my lips when I recognized the voices.

Ang bilis talaga umaksyon ang anak ko. Sabi ko na nga ba eh. He likes her!

May narinig akong mga yapak ng mga paa papunta dito sa kwarto ko so I quickly closed my eyes and pretended to be asleep.

"Mom, where is she?" He said in a monotone voice.

I did not dare to respond.

"Mom." He sounded impatient already. "Mom, I know you are awake." Hindi parin ako dumilat. "Mom, answer me or else you are not going to see me again."

I slowly opened my eyes.

"What is it, son?" I acted as if I just woke up from a deep sleep.

"I know that you heard me."

"Kilala mo nga talaga ako," I teased him.

"Of course, mom. You are the kind of person who would easily wake up even with just hearing a sound of a door opening. That is how much I know you, mom."

"Aww. I am touched," I smiled sweetly.

He shook his head. "You're changing the topic. Where is she, mom?" Naiinip ng tanong niya sa akin.

"Who?" Maang-maangan ko.

"Who else."

"Sino nga, anak? Madami akong kakilala. Sino ang hinahanap mo?"

His reaction turned uneasy. Well, if he knew me really well, he should know by now that I would not admit that quickly.

"I was referring to N-Nina." He avoided my eyes when he mentioned her name.

Nahiya pa itong anak ko sa akin. Nahiya pa siyang banggitin ang pangalan ni Nina. It was so obvious already that he had some feelings for her but unfortunately, he would not admit it or probably, he's not aware.

"Oh, you are talking about Nina. What about her?"

"Where is she? Someone told me that you were with her this morning and you both went shopping."

"Yes, we went shopping this morning. Why are you looking for her in here? Does it seem like I am hiding her? Obviously, she is not with me because I had been peacefully sleeping here for hours."

Napahawak ang anak ko sa batok niya.

"Then where did you two last saw each other before you went home?"

"At the mall, of course! I didn't see her after she went to the restroom so I assumed that she went home to your house that's why I didn't bother to find her."

Sorry for lying, son. I just needed to.

Napakuyom ng mga kamay ang anak ko. He looked mad and disappointed.

"Sorry, son."

I was actually sorry for lying and of course, for taking Nina away from him.

There was a long silence before he spoke again. "I will go now, mom." He did not wait for my reply. He just walked out of my room in a hurry.

I felt that he was upset of me and he was just controlling his temper. My son barely disrespected me which was something I was glad about. But I want him to not only respect me but other people as well and that includes Nina.

I hoped that he would realize her worth.
