Ch 17 - A Welcomed Guest

Haru and Grayfia were in Harus house sitting at the table. Haru prepared sliced apples to eat while they spoke. Each having a glass of water in front of them.

Haru: So these monsters aren't new to your world?

Grayfia: No. Do you know what Angels, Devils and Fallen Angels are?

Haru: I have a very basic knowledge of them.

Grayfia: Well I was told these monsters first appeared during what is know as the Great War. A war between these three factions. While they have a power similar to Light Power. A power wielded by the Angels and Fallen Angels. This power also hurt the Angels just as much as the devils. These monsters indiscriminately killed not only all three factions during the war, but other races not even participating. So as the three factions were all heavily exhausted a temporary peace was created. To fight against a common enemy.

Haru: {The way she speaks of it means the Great War has long passed. I mean if she's alive it must have.} So what's happening now?

Haru took a sip of water as he listened to Grayfia speak.

Grayfia: After the three factions fought off these monsters all of them had suffered many losses, so the Great War was stopped. Neither side wanted to lose more after loosing so many to those monsters. Though you can't call what we have peace either. However, right now the conflict up until this point was more internal. While the Angels and Fallen Angels might not be having as much internal conflict, the Devils are. A Civil War after the death of the original Four Satans, strong devils that you could see as a kind of monarchy or rulers of the Underworld. Then during this Civil War. They showed up. Causing more damage and destruction. The two factions the Anti Satan Faction and the Old Satan Faction are both suffering heavy losses.

Haru listened to Grayfia as it sounded like these Angel monsters were being a pest more than anything.

Haru: So you were fighting on the front lines when you were attacked. Deciding to come to the Dimensional Gap to try and get away?

Grayfia: No. I would say the Devil Civil War is close to its end. I... I got attacked after having a confrontation with my ex. There was a much stronger monster that did most of the damage to me, but I didn't have enough magic to fight the rest. So yes I tried to flee.

Haru looked at shock in Grayfia. Nearly spitting out the water if he didn't have his choker on.

Haru: {She broke off her marriage?!} I'm sorry I was insensitive as to how you came here. I didn't know you had recently divorced.

Grayfia: Oh no it's nothing like that?! I... I just wanted different things from her!

Haru: {Her?} If you don't mind me asking. What is it, you truly desire?

Haru gave a small smile and seductive stare. Not even realise he was doing it. Grayfia blushed slightly flustered but gaining some composure.

Grayfia: I... I want a family. But she didn't want the same. She was kind and caring even during the war. But... when it came to us. She seemed to lack any seriousness in our relationship. She... she thought I was making a joke when I ask her about a family. But... But maybe I was too greedy...

Haru: I don't think you were at all.

Haru butted in before Grayfia could finish. Not wanting Grayfia to finish the sentence she was about to say. Not wanting her to dismiss her dream. Grayfia looked up into Harus mismatched eyes.

Haru: I think a woman or man would be lucky to go out with such a woman as you. That even mentioning a family with them should make their life that much brighter.

Grayfia grew a brighter blush as she stared into Harus eyes.

Haru: I think anyone would be lucky to give you anything you want.

Grayfia became a darker red as she looked away and covered her face. The room seemed to get colder all of a sudden as she looked back at Haru with her blush red face completely back to normal.

Grayfia: Would... would you want to come back with me? To leave the Dimensional Gap. With me.

It was here. Harus chance at freedom. To leave the Dimensional Gap at which he had spent such a long time in. He had spent so much time trying to escape before he gave up. So much time trying to be... free. To see the world. A new world which was not his own.

It... it wasn't his own.

Thoughts went though Harus head. And then a strong doubt. A... fear. It wasn't his original world. There was nothing there for him there. Just like space it would be empty to him. He had spent such a long time in Dimensional Gap. Trying to make it his home. He had grown nearly a whole forest. He grew his flowers and apple trees. His World Tree and the training ground under it. This prison. It had become his home. And he had no home in the other world. His time in this prison forced him to stay here. Because everything else, would feel more empty than the Dimensional Gaps complete nothingness.

So Haru couldn't leave.

Haru: I... I can't. There's nothing anywhere for me. Nowhere but here. So I can't leave. {Because I'd be more alone surrounded by people, than having no one around be at all.}

Grayfia looked at Haru as she saw it. Even though his choker kept his mind calm and his power kept his manner... relatively in check. She could tell that being stuck here for a long time had affected him. He was alone. Scared.

Grayfia: Ok. But! Can... can I visit you?

Haru saw Grayfias growing blush as he smiled. This may have been a better choice than leaving. Having someone visiting him. Haru grew a soft smile as he looked at Grayfia.

Haru: I'll always welcome you Grayfia.

Grayfia: Then... when I come again. I'll bring you some more food besides... apples.

Haru looked as Grayfia gave a small smile. Haru smiled to as Grayfia stood up. A blue magic circle appeared under Grayfia as she smiled and waved at Haru. Disappearing with the magic circle. Leaving Haru all alone again.

Haru: She really is beautiful. That smile... perfect.

Haru sat there eating his apples. Having nothing to eat besides the apples and the beans he grew behind his house. Going to do his regular training again. Waiting for whenever Grayfia would next appear. But he didn't have to wait long. Grayfia appeared the next day. A picnic basket in hand with many different foods. A blanket too.

That day they sat under the World Tree. Eating together and looking at the flower fields. Talking.
