Ch 28 - Political Matters

After Grayfia accepted to become Harus queen, they both began to sort out many political matters at hand. Large stacks of paperwork piling up in Harus office. Grayfia standing in front of Harus desk with paperwork.

Grayfia: First on the agenda today is really quick. Out of all the marriage proposals you received there were only two that stood out. One was for a clan to merge into our one, but on further investigation this clan has heavy debts that may be more of a detriment to us than a benefit. The second one however was a lot more interesting.

Haru: How so?

Grayfia: It was a marriage proposal directly from Sirzechs herself. It doesn't mention anything about the merger of the Clan as she lost her position to the Gremory family after becoming a Satan however, it sounds like she's asking you out on a date.

Haru was surprised. The same woman that he scared was asking him on date, via marriage?

Haru: Sirzechs... is asking me on a date?

Grayfia: Yes. Do you want me to send a reply my lord?

Haru: Hmmmm. Hold off on that for now. The other marriage proposals you can deny.

Grayfia: Understood. The next item on the agenda for today is to distribute the budget we've been given this year until we develop our own source of income. However, the budget is just barely enough. I do recommend listening to the other items on the agenda first before you decide this.

Haru: What are the other items? {How many are there?!}

Grayfia: So the massive amount of apple trees you have were given to a farmer in exchange for shares of the sales. You have a meeting at 1pm with Ajuka, specifically regarding the World Tree. You have a subsequent meeting with the board and director of the Underworld magic research organisation also regarding the World Tree.

Haru: Everyone wants to damage my tree!

Grayfia: It ok. They realise they can't be too greedy with you protecting it so they're only asking regarding the tapping of the World Trees sap. Which would still have massive magical properties.

Haru: Oh so it's about trade to further increase the yearly budget.

Grayfia: Exactly. They'll most likely research it first before finding any specific use for it, but afterwards after finding a use they'll constantly ask for a supply, on which we can set a price for the World Tree sap, or ask for a share in sales of whatever use they find it useful for. However, you will decide what root to take after they actually find a use for it.

Haru: Could we just not find a use for it ourselves?

Grayfia: We do not have the facilities to do that my lord.

Haru: Oh.

Haru sounded a bit disappointed with that but there was nothing that could be done. They were a new starting territory after all. Potentially a new pillar in the Underworld.

Grayfia: Next you also have to meet your first neighbour of your territory the Gremorys. A meeting with not only Sirzech...

Grayfia gave a small giggle breaking her strict facade. Regaining her composure.

Grayfia: But her parents too.

Haru: Can't possibly see how that goes wrong.

Grayfia: Then we have to discuss rating games. To further show your power and political influence I recommend challenging those your unlikely to for amicable relationships with...

Haru was listening to Grayfia when suddenly an idea popped into his head.

Haru: Grayfia.

Grayfia: Yes my lord?

Haru: Am I free tonight?

Grayfia: Yes my lord.

Haru: Are you free tonight.

Grayfia smiled.

Grayfia: I don't know... I may be free tonight. I would have to check. Why my lord? Do you have an idea?

Haru: Well I don't know if it's in the budget. But Greyfia Lucifuge, would you want to go on a dinner date with me? Tonight specifically. A nice, fancy, high end dinner date.

Grayfia: Our first nice, fancy, high end dinner date. And our first date?

Haru: If you would like that.

Grayfia had a small smile as she leaned over the desk, Haru leaning over but yet... a hand blocked him from a kiss. Grayfias hand.

Grayfia: I would love to my lord. I'll schedule that in your agenda. Make sure to wear something... nice.

Grayfia leaned back from over the desk as Haru lingered there for a bit. It was weird but every time she prevented a kiss from happening. He only wanted it more. Grayfia was teasing him. Haru not being used to being on this side of a tease was obvious. Blushing as Grayfia put back on her serious facade.

Grayfia: Next item on the agenda?

Haru: Huh, what? Oh. Oh yeah. Please continue.

Haru sat back in his chair with a blush. Seeing Grayfias lips crinkle up and turn into a small smile.
