-Fei's POV-
"......why is this happening again...?"
To think That I let down my guard and letting Charlotte be abducted was the worst. I could not believe myself who promised to protect her! I have failed again due to my idiocy, oh Gaiaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!!!
Clawing my head and slamming it to the floor repeatedly, I tried every mean possible to track the whereabouts of Charlotte. And yet the Cabin was too clean. The scent vanished. There was no footstep around vicinity and no trails either!
What the fuck did that Hermit do!? How could he deceive my assassin perception like this!! Are you a phantom!!?
After thrashing around and cursing the whole world as well as my foolishness, I finally stopped at some point and only sighed. At the empty dining room was me all alone while eating a leftover dried meat. I think Charlotte called it jerky but it sure has strange name and flavor.
After cleaning up, I stepped outside the Cabin and witnessed the scenery.
It had been one week. How times have passed and I knew not about where Charlotte vanished to. I was certain Takeru kidnapped her but to where? As expected, even this me was unable to do anything when I knew not about the exact location of this place.
Despite me being chagrined and angry at first, the emotions gradually dissipated and I looked at my hand.
*crackle*-there was a faint trace of light and a cackle of lightning surrounding it. I felt a throb of pain as if my hand was being drilled with melting metal even though I was supposed to get used to it.
"......Lagnaris... is acting up again. And it's getting stronger. Looks like I won't have much time left."
I clenched my right hand. Enduring the mix between hatred and disappointment over my fate.
I knew that resisting was futile. To think that I lived for three years beyond the grips of the Kingdom was already considered as a miracle. In fact, it was nothing but a wonder for me as Lagnaris called out to me when I fought Ivory.
Surely, my location has been detected.
Surely, an army would arrive to subdue me and retrieve Lagnaris back.
Those corrupted humans would surely pursue me and accuse me for trying to steal one of the Divine Instruments. The swords capable of creating a dominion over this whole world if used correctly.
"......how messed up. How messed up, indeed. I never thought I am so frustrated to be incapable of changing everything."
Well... three months of spending times with Charlotte was fine. In fact, I was already in heaven. And this must be the end of my blissful dream.
As I listlessly sighing and lying my back to the chair, something else tingled my fingers. The mana thread was cut at a spot and thus giving me a noticeable feedback.
"......a group of people. Two squads? And they're fast. Have they discovered this place using Lagnaris' Fragment Emergence?"
I stood up from the chair. Striding to the front door, I grabbed a sword which was lying next to it. This Cabin possessed a forgery so I could have my way and created a proper replacement for the Void Sword Charlotte broke.
Still, I was happy it served well. A relic of past should not be disturbed from its rightful slumber after fulfilling its duty.
Steeling my resolves, I opened the door. Activating detection and fighting spirit around my body, I was prepared to take on any attack from any possible threat.
