Upon returning home from school, I found Mew cooking dinner for us, back to his usual self. Perhaps he got accepted for the job he applied for; he was whistling cheerfully while cooking, which made Bright and me chuckle.

"Oh, you two are here. Shower and help me set the table for dinner," he instructed, motioning for us to wash up, so we did.

I hurried to my room, setting down my bag to retrieve the folder I had taken from the office—it contained Becky's profile. According to the documents, she was the second child. Her brother was a renowned tech entrepreneur, and her father was a business tycoon. Since childhood, she had been athletically inclined, participating in basketball, volleyball, and now football. Despite her sporting achievements, her academic performance was suffering, mainly due to her inability to focus amidst her various sporting commitments.

"What's the point of joining all these activities if she doesn't intend to pursue them professionally?" I muttered to myself, scrolling through the documents.

As I delved deeper, I flopped onto my bed when I stumbled upon her interview response after winning against other schools. When asked if she would consider changing schools due to our university's perceived lack of sporting prowess, she simply smiled and walked away.

"Freen, dinner's ready!" Bright's voice echoed through the door, snapping me out of my thoughts. I realized I hadn't finished washing up yet. I quickly splashed water on my face before heading downstairs to join them.

"You're late tonight," Mew remarked as I took my seat. "Anyway, I got a job as a car salesman. The boss likes me and thinks I'll be a valuable addition to his team."

"That's great news! I've been looking for a job nearby so we wouldn't have to commute separately. You know, so you can give the motorcycle to Bright, and he can drop Freen off at school," Mile suggested.

"I'm still studying!" Bright protested, and I chuckled.

After dinner, I returned to my room to do some advance studying, but my phone buzzed. It was Billy calling.

Billy, the former council president, was exceptional at everything, and I admired him for it. We met when I was a freshman and he was a sophomore. He was a gentle president, quite the opposite of me. Like Becky, Billy bore significant responsibilities at a young age. He became president as a sophomore, and I never delved into his background, as he preferred to work independently. Despite that, I stayed by his side. I admired him deeply, but not romantically. Well, Christie Kedarian said that crushes wasn't always romantic. I saw my brothers in him—hardworking and sweet.

"Hi, little one. How was your first day?" Billy's voice was comforting. I sighed, lying on my bed and gazing up at the ceiling. Should I tell him about what happened? It might worry him. I didn't want him to rush back just because I wasn't okay.

Billy was in New York, sorting out things for his graduate school. He got held up there, so he asked for some time from the professors to finish his tasks before returning.

"Fine. Same old university council issues. Bright being his usual cheeky self," I replied, and he chuckled.

"Don't tell me you didn't make any friends again?" Billy teased, causing me to roll my eyes.

"You know they're intimidated by me. Who would want to befriend me, huh? Except for Nam, who knows me well already," I retorted. "Anyway, when are you coming back? I need guidance. This is my first time as president. I need advice from the previous one."

Billy laughed on the other end. "I'll be back tomorrow. And I'll introduce you to someone you can befriend. I can't always be there, Freen. You should find another best friend."

I imagined him messing up my hair while saying those words.

I hung up the phone and hugged my pillow. I wished Billy were here now. He was the only one I could confide in about my family and problems. He was always there to support me. However, knowing that this would be his last semester at the university made my heart ache. I wished we were in the same year so that if he left, I could leave too. Unfortunately, he was born earlier.

"Freen?" I heard a knock at my door, and when I opened it, I saw Mile holding a paper bag.

"What's this?" I asked.

"I bought you a laptop. You'll need it for your research soon," Mile replied, avoiding my gaze.

I was excited, but also concerned. Where did he get the money for this?

"Is this from...you know, him?" I asked cautiously.

Mile worked as a waiter, and every night, a particular customer requested his service. He wanted to talk to Mile. Initially, I thought they were just high school classmates, but the way the man looked at my brother made me uneasy.

"Please accept it. You know we can't afford it, right? It doesn't matter where I got the money. I didn't steal it or anything," Mile explained.

"I was just worried, Mile. If you're only doing this to please him for money, you shouldn't. Thank you. I'll take good care of it," I reassured him, embracing him before he went downstairs to join our other brothers. I couldn't believe Mile would go to such lengths just to provide for us.
